Hanoi gradually restricts and eventually bans motorbikes: Promotes the use of electric vehicles and public transport

The high density of motorbikes, estimated at approximately 7 million, is putting enormous pressure on the already overloaded transport infrastructure and urban landscape of the capital. On the other hand, emissions from internal combustion engines contribute significantly to air pollution.
Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh, in a recent meeting with the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM) on June 9, stated that Vietnam, especially large cities, are facing many problems caused by motorbikes, although this means of transport brings convenience to people.
In addition to public transport, one of the solutions that Hanoi has proposed in parallel with the motorbike ban is to encourage people to switch to using electric vehicles, especially electric motorbikes and electric bicycles. This is a direction with a lot of potential, especially when the City People's Council has passed a Resolution on Regulations on implementing low emission zones in the area.
