The update on mobile devices promises to significantly reduce the time it takes to perform in-app search tasks.

As a result, searching in Gmail for, say, an old email, a contact, or specific numbers has become much easier.

Google has just updated the AI feature for Gmail.

The search giant said that in the next two weeks, the Gmail app will feature a new section called “Top results” when users perform searches in their Inbox.

The new feature is powered by Google's machine learning platform, which analyzes search terms, recent emails, or “similar elements” to determine which messages best match the customer's query.

This is the latest move in a strategy shift for the email service, including a controversial policy that Google may completely delete data and content from accounts that have been inactive for the past two years.

In February 2023, Google completed the release of the new user interface of the Gmail app, emphasizing the redesign as well as the focus on productivity tools.

CEO Sundar Pichai has outlined strategies to cut operating costs, leading the search giant to improve “20% productivity.” In Alphabet’s latest earnings call, company executives discussed plans to allocate resources to areas including AI and search.

In a blog post, Google said the new update was “highly requested” and will be rolling out to all account holders and customers.
