As a result, searching in Gmail for, say, an old email, a contact, or specific numbers has become much easier.
Google just updated the AI feature for Gmail. |
The search giant said that in the next two weeks, the Gmail app will feature a new section called “Top results” when users perform searches in their Inbox.
The new feature, powered by Google's machine learning platform, analyzes search terms, recent emails, or “similar elements” to determine which message best matches the customer's query.
This is the latest move in a shift in strategy for the email service, including a controversial policy by Google that it may completely delete data and content from accounts that have been inactive for the past two years.
In February 2023, Google completed the release of the new user interface of the Gmail app, emphasizing the redesign as well as the focus on productivity tools.
CEO Sundar Pichai has outlined strategies to cut operating costs, leading the search giant to improve “20% productivity.” In Alphabet’s latest earnings call, executives discussed plans to allocate resources to areas including AI and search.
In a blog post, Google said that the new update was “highly requested” and will be rolling out to all account holders and customers.
