As a result, searching within Gmail for things like an old email, a contact, or specific numbers has become much easier.
| Google has just updated Gmail with AI features. |
The search giant announced that, over the next two weeks, the Gmail app will feature a new section called "Top Results" when users perform searches within their Inbox.
This new feature runs on Google's machine learning platform, capable of analyzing search terms, recent emails, or "similar elements" to determine which messages are most relevant to the customer's query.
This is the latest move in a changing strategy for the email service, which includes a controversial policy by Google that could completely delete data and content from accounts that have been inactive for the past two years.
In February 2023, Google completed the release of the new user interface for the Gmail app, emphasizing redesign as well as a focus on productivity-enhancing tools.
CEO Sundar Pichai outlined strategies to reduce operating costs, aiming to improve the search giant's productivity by "20%." In Alphabet's latest earnings call, company executives discussed plans to allocate resources to areas including AI and search.
In a blog post, Google stated that the new feature update was “requested by many users” and would be available to all account holders and customers.
