Faced with the increasing number of bank account frauds with sophisticated tricks, proactively checking and verifying information when making transactions is becoming an urgent requirement to ensure financial safety for users.
Implementing the State Bank's direction on strengthening the supervision and management of bank accounts showing signs of irregularities in the financial system, a number of major banks have officially deployed the feature of warning accounts showing signs of suspected fraud and scams to contribute to risk prevention and protect customers' rights.
At the same time, the service also contributes to the goal of cleaning data, improving safety and transparency in payment activities.
Agribank is the latest bank to announce the deployment of a feature to detect and warn of suspicious and fraudulent accounts since July 21.
Accordingly, when customers enter the recipient's account number, before making a transfer transaction within the Agribank system or the NAPAS 24/7 fast money transfer service, the service will automatically compare with the database provided by the authorities ( Ministry of Public Security , State Bank...) and the internal database.
If the system detects that the recipient's account is on the list of suspected fraud or scams, the system immediately displays a notification that the recipient's account may be on the list of suspected risks and warns the customer to consider when making the transaction.
The service is provided free of charge, simple and quick to operate, helping customers easily check and proactively make safe decisions in each transaction.

Previously, Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) was the first bank to deploy the feature to identify fraudulent accounts when transferring money since the end of June 2024.
According to Mr. Vu Thanh Trung, Vice Chairman of MB's Board of Directors, in July 2024 alone, as soon as this feature was deployed, MB warned 2,700 customers and after receiving the news, 1,500 customers proactively stopped transactions.
BIDV is the next bank after MB to apply the suspicious transaction warning system from April 1, 2025. When customers enter the recipient's account on the application, the system will scan and warn if it is an account on the suspicious list. During a month of testing, 40,000 transactions were stopped, with a total value of up to 160 billion VND.
Vietcombank and VietinBank will also test this feature from July 1, 2025.
Thus, up to now, 5 banks including MB, Agribank, Vietcombank, VietinBank and BIDV have deployed automatic warning systems.
Thereby, customers are provided with information about the safety level of the beneficiary account, from which they can proactively decide whether to continue the transaction or not.
According to Vietcombank, when customers make money transfers on Mobile Banking, the system will automatically identify and warn customers if the recipient's account number shows the following signs: The recipient's information does not match the National Population Database; the recipient's account is on the warning list of the competent authority; the recipient's account is on the list of suspected risks (unusually large transactions, receiving money from multiple accounts...).
Similar to the group of 5 major banks mentioned above, from July 1, 2025, Tien Phong Commercial Joint Stock Bank (TPBank) has also officially deployed an application security solution, integrated directly on the TPBank app.
Accordingly, in case a customer's phone contains software with accessibility permissions that can be exploited by criminals, the customer will receive a notification asking them to turn off accessibility permissions in general settings.
Customers can then choose to delete the app to ensure safety or turn off accessibility permissions in the Settings app.
In case the device's operating environment is not safe, the customer will receive a warning on the app with the content of the request to check or log in again on a safe device, or a warning that the application is running in an unsafe environment.
The above solutions show the efforts of banks and authorities in enhancing customer protection. However, in the context of increasingly sophisticated forms of fraud, banks advise customers to always be vigilant.
