On August 8, the Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area Management Board organized a pilot green tourism tour in Tan Hiep island commune (Hoi An city). Attending the event were representatives of travel agencies, press, and professional agencies inside and outside the province.
During 2 days (August 8-9), the delegation visited tourist attractions on the island such as the Marine Protected Area Communication Center, ancient well, Hai Tang Pagoda, coral nursery, experienced the craft of weaving hammocks from parasol trees, making gai leaf cakes, weaving nets, picking forest leaves to make drinks...

The purpose of the program is to introduce green tourism products, associated with cultural preservation and promotion of indigenous values, towards sustainable tourism development.
Mr. Le Ngoc Thao - Head of the Secretariat, Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area Management Board affirmed that when aiming to build Cu Lao Cham into a zero-waste island, all activities from socio -economic to scientific research, including people's livelihoods, are aimed at this goal. Green tourism with typical services, regenerating nature will be the main direction.
Through practical activities such as coral transplantation, resource recovery from waste, participation in local life activities... not only contribute to enriching the tour program but also help locals and tourists better understand the concept of green tourism and sustainable development.

According to statistics, each year Cu Lao Cham welcomes nearly half a million visitors, contributing to the development of Hoi An's sea tourism industry.
However, after more than 10 years of tourism development, the tour program to take visitors to the island has not changed much, mainly day trips.
