- On the evening of October 15, in Hanoi, among 60 outstanding individuals nationwide who were awarded by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) in the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at home work" for the period 2020 - 2025, Lang Son province had only one individual, Ms. Chu Phuong Thao, Head of the Department of Professional Planning and Nursing, Vice President of the Grassroots Trade Union (CĐCS) of Van Lang Regional Medical Center. This recognition is not only a source of pride for Lang Son Trade Union but also a shining example of a female nurse who is both professionally good, creative, and dedicated to the sick.

Having been in the profession for nearly 20 years, from a primary care nurse, Ms. Chu Phuong Thao (born in 1983) has experienced many different positions. Her love for the profession, her eagerness to learn and her responsibility to the patients have motivated her to constantly learn and innovate to bring better service quality to the people.
Ms. Thao shared: Nursing to me is not only a job but also a responsibility and love for people. I always try to innovate in every operation and every process so that every person coming to the center can feel the dedication of the nurses.
From practical work, experiencing many difficulties and problems in the nursing process and records management, Ms. Thao has proactively researched, explored, and resolved the shortcomings in professional work.
Specifically, in the period of 2020 - 2024, she has researched and carried out 4 basic-level scientific research topics, all of which have been recognized by the Lang Son Department of Health and effectively implemented at the unit. Notably, the topic "Assessing the current status of knowledge on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of anaphylaxis of nurses" was carried out by her in 2023. The topic is assessed to be highly applicable, helping to improve the skills of quick response and handling of emergency situations for the nursing team. After application, the time to treat anaphylaxis was shortened, the error rate was significantly reduced, contributing to ensuring patient safety.
Currently, she is completing the topic "Evaluating the current status of electronic medical record implementation" with the goal of contributing to improving working methods, reducing paperwork pressure, and helping nurses have more time to care for patients.
Mr. Hua Minh Than, Deputy Director, Chairman of the Trade Union of Van Lang Regional Medical Center said: At work, comrade Thao is a careful, meticulous, thoughtful person and often proactively advises and makes suggestions to the unit's leaders in the process of performing tasks. The initiatives she implements are all passionate, thoughtful, and come from reality, not to achieve results but to solve practical problems of the unit with the desire to improve working conditions for colleagues and bring safety and satisfaction to patients.

Not only having professional capacity, Ms. Thao is also an active and responsible Vice President of the Trade Union, devoting much effort to taking care of the material and spiritual life of union members.
From her advice, the unit's Trade Union has maintained many meaningful activities such as visiting sick union members, supporting those in difficult circumstances, organizing skill competitions, sports and art exchanges, praising union members' children for their excellent academic performance, etc. These activities not only encourage morale but also create a united and humane working environment, helping cadres and employees to be more attached to their profession and feel secure in their work.
Ms. Loc Ha Giang, Head Nurse of the Department of Internal Medicine, Emergency - Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, Van Lang Regional Medical Center said: Ms. Thao is an inspiration to me in my work. She always enthusiastically guides and helps her colleagues, especially young nurses. The initiatives and solutions she proposed have been effectively applied by us, helping to improve productivity and quality of patient care.
Taking on many roles at the same time, Ms. Thao still maintains a gentle and friendly demeanor with her colleagues. Despite being busy with her professional work, she still arranges her time scientifically to pay attention to her family, cultivate happiness, and raise good, studious children.
With her dedication, efforts and spirit of innovation and creativity, from 2021 to now, Ms. Thao has achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level for 4 consecutive years, and has been awarded 4 certificates of merit by the Provincial Labor Federation for her outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework", "Good worker - Creative worker". The image of Ms. Thao - a female nurse who is always dedicated to patients and passionate about creativity in her work has, is and will continue to spread like a beautiful flower in everyday life, contributing to beautifying the beauty of nurses.
