Information from the Central Internal Affairs Committee said that on the morning of August 16, the 24th meeting of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption and negativity took place. The meeting was chaired by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - Head of the Steering Committee.

The meeting discussed and gave opinions on the results of the Steering Committee's activities in the first 6 months of 2023 and reviewed the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity since the beginning of the 13th Party Congress term up to now.

At the same time, identify key tasks for the last months of the year and the coming time.
Previously, on May 10, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a regular meeting of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption and negativity.

The meeting reviewed the results of directing the handling of a number of cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee from the 23rd meeting of the Steering Committee (January 2023) to May 2023 and many other important contents.

Accordingly, Party committees and inspection committees at all levels have disciplined more than 100 Party organizations and more than 3,600 Party members.

The Central Executive Committee, Politburo, Secretariat, and Central Inspection Commission have disciplined 12 party organizations and 26 officials at the level of department directors and equivalent or higher.

Including 1 former member of the Party Central Committee, 3 chairmen, former chairmen of provincial People's Committees, 2 general officers in the armed forces.

The work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity in agencies with the function of preventing and combating corruption and negativity continues to be focused on and strengthened.

From the beginning of the year to May, Party committees, Party organizations, and authorities have disciplined and criminally handled many violations in this force, typically prosecuting and investigating two retired major generals in the armed forces.

Two people's court officials and one people's procuracy official; 14 inspectors and supervisors from the Government Inspectorate, State Bank, State Audit, National Financial Supervision Commission and 12 local inspectors.

Disciplinary action was taken against 12 officials who are the chief prosecutors, deputy chief prosecutors of district-level People's Procuracies, department heads, and police chiefs of several districts and cities in An Giang province...
