On the morning of November 13, in Dong Nai , General Secretary To Lam led a Central working delegation to visit, inspect and work at the construction site of Long Thanh International Airport Project.
Also attending the working session were Politburo member, Standing member of the 14th Party Congress Document Subcommittee Nguyen Van Nen; Party Central Committee Secretary, Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Secretary Tran Luu Quang and leaders of several central ministries and branches.

The Long Thanh International Airport Project started construction on January 5, 2021, and will be implemented synchronously from March 2022 with a scale of 2 runways in the North and 1 passenger terminal along with synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year; 1.2 million tons of cargo/year on an area of 1,810 hectares. Up to now, many main items of the project have been completed (connecting roads, runway No. 1, phase 1 boundary fence...), and have completed the calibration test flights and flight method assessment from September 26 to October 29, 2025.
According to the research results of the Air Transport Action Group, when put into operation, Long Thanh International Airport will directly create about 14,000 jobs for businesses operating here; when operating at the designed capacity of 25 million passengers/year, Long Thanh International Airport is expected to directly create about 22,000 jobs for businesses, thereby contributing about 3.7 billion USD/year to the national GDP.
At the same time, indirectly creating about 69,800 jobs for businesses that are suppliers of input products and services for businesses directly operating at the Port, contributing about 4.5 billion USD/year to the national GDP.

The consumption impact of the employed employees (direct and indirect) will continue to create about 57,000 additional jobs, thereby contributing about 2.5 billion USD/year to the national GDP.
With the strong determination of the Government, ministries, branches, investors and construction units, the construction progress of Long Thanh airport - phase 1 strives to be basically completed, ensuring standards and conditions for inauguration according to regulations before December 19, 2025 to accommodate technical flights, putting the project into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026...

Concluding the working session, General Secretary To Lam commended the relevant ministries and local branches for their initial outstanding efforts to ensure the project is on schedule, in which the runway and traffic route No. 1 have been completed to meet technical flight conditions and the terminal has reached over 60% of the basic contract value to be completed before December 19, 2025. The project has initially demonstrated the financial efficiency and autonomy of Vietnamese enterprises, saving nearly 450 billion VND for the State.
Emphasizing the importance of the project, the General Secretary suggested: "Long Thanh International Airport must be built and operated with the spirit of overcoming differences, pioneering a new model of modern, sustainable and smart aviation infrastructure. I request ministries, branches and investors to coordinate in developing a set of criteria to assess the international competitiveness of Long Thanh Airport, in which special attention is paid to three factors. First is service quality and passenger experience. Second is productivity and operational efficiency. Third is the level of connectivity and transit capacity in the regional aviation network. The goal is for Long Thanh to become the most attractive destination in Southeast Asia, comparable to and surpassing the leading airports in the region."

At the meeting, the General Secretary also commented on a number of recommendations from localities and investors and assigned the Central Party Office to synthesize and send them to relevant agencies for research and urgent consideration to resolve within their authority, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and in the spirit of maximum support for the project to be completed on schedule and for sustainable development in the coming period.
