On the afternoon of September 15, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam chaired a working session with the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies.

At the meeting, based on General Secretary To Lam's discussion suggestions, leaders of the agencies exchanged and deeply assessed new and notable developments in the world and regional situation, forecasted the impact on Vietnam and the direction of foreign affairs to serve the country's key tasks in the coming period.
On behalf of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of the Party Committee, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung affirmed that although peace, cooperation and development are still the major trends, the world situation is evolving very rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably, affecting the country's security and development environment in many ways.
In that context, the important task of foreign affairs in the coming time is to contribute to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development and successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and the major policies that the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat have set forth in recent times to pave the way for an era of the country rising up to develop strongly and prosperously.

General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member and Minister of National Defense, shared the comments and assessments of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; affirming that although the world and regional situation has been very complicated in recent times, Vietnam has made efforts to strengthen political trust with partners, ensure national defense and security, expand and deepen foreign relations with other countries, including defense diplomacy.
Agreeing with the opinions of the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, also emphasized the need to further deepen defense diplomacy and People's Public Security diplomacy, and promote international integration in the defense and security fields as clearly stated in Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo.
From the Government's perspective, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that in the current context, urging and implementing commitments with partners is very important; believing that it is necessary to continue promoting multilateral diplomacy, especially at mechanisms and forums of strategic importance to the country such as ASEAN, Mekong sub-regional cooperation; mobilizing sufficient resources for implementing foreign affairs and international integration, building a team of experts, etc.

In his concluding remarks and directions at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the dedicated and profound contributions of the leaders of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Military Commission and the Central Public Security Party Committee.
Continuing to affirm the Party's guiding viewpoint on promoting foreign affairs and international integration as a "crucial and regular" task, the General Secretary pointed out the importance of coordinating the three pillars of National Defense - Security - Foreign Affairs. The Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to closely coordinate with departments, ministries, branches and localities in proactively, synchronously and effectively implementing foreign affairs and international integration tasks.
The General Secretary requested the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue to grasp the situation, further enhance the quality, efficiency and timeliness of research work, and advise the Party and State leaders on major decisions and policies of strategic importance to the country.
The entire foreign affairs sector, including the Foreign Affairs sector, continues to promote its pioneering role in creating a peaceful and stable environment, making the most of external resources and favorable conditions for national development, especially to realize the development goals for 2030 and 2045.
The General Secretary expressed his belief that Vietnamese diplomacy will continue to create peace, expand development space, raise the country's position, and actively contribute to the successful implementation of the two 100-year goals set by the Party, making Vietnam develop strongly, prosperously, eternally and sustainably.

This is the second working session of General Secretary To Lam with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within 1 month and the third in the past year, showing that the Party and State leaders, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and directly the General Secretary, pay great attention to and attach importance to foreign affairs work, always giving direct and close leadership and direction to foreign affairs and diplomacy.
