President Sulyok Tamas was born on March 24, 1956, in Kiskunfelegyhaza, Hungary. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Jozsef Attila University of Szeged (1980); Master of European Law from Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest (2004).
Mr. Sulyok Tamas has held the following positions and jobs: Trainee Judge, Szeged City Court, Hungary (1980 - 1982); Legal Advisor (1982 - 1991); Lawyer (1991 - 2014); Honorary Consul of Austria in Hungary (2000 - 2014); Lecturer of Constitutional Law, University of Szeged (2005 - 2020); Member of the Hungarian Constitutional Court (2014 - 2024); Vice President of the Hungarian Constitutional Court (2015 - 2016); President of the Hungarian Constitutional Court (2016 - 2024).
Since March 2024, Mr. Sulyok Tamas has been the President of Hungary.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary Bui Le Thai said that taking place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, President Sulyok Tamas's visit to Vietnam marks an important milestone, opening up new cooperation opportunities in the Vietnam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership. This is not only a symbolic visit in terms of foreign politics but also aims to promote substantive cooperation in all fields between the two countries. The visit is a strong affirmation of the common political determination of the two countries' senior leaders in deepening and further substantively deepening the Comprehensive Partnership established in 2018, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding.
Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Tibor Baloghdi emphasized that the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Hungary are built on a solid foundation of mutual respect, cooperation and close history. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on February 3, 1950, Hungary has always supported Vietnam in many fields. Up to now, the two countries have become important partners of each other and believe that Vietnam also highly values this relationship with Hungary. In that sense, the official visit to Vietnam by President Sulyok Tamas is an important milestone in bilateral relations, demonstrating diplomatic commitment at the highest level.
