Kazakhstan President arrives at the airport to welcome General Secretary To Lam

General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, paid a state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from May 5 to 7, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Welcoming General Secretary To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Astana Airport on the Kazakhstan side were President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs M.Nurtleu; Deputy Prime Minister in charge of economic and social affairs Yermek Kosherbayev; Foreign Affairs Advisor to the President E.Kazykhan; Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Vietnam K.Tumush; Minister of Health A.Alnazarova; Mayor of Astana J.Kasumbek.

On the Vietnamese side, there was Vietnamese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Pham Thai Nhu Mai; along with a number of officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Kazakhstan.

At the airport, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev shook hands to welcome General Secretary To Lam and his wife, and introduced Kazakh officials. Kazakh girls and teenagers in national costumes approached to present flowers to General Secretary To Lam and his wife.

Next, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited General Secretary To Lam and his wife to walk on the honor carpet, along two rows of honor guards standing solemnly to welcome them.

Kazakhstan is the first stop on the visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to four countries: Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation and Belarus.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Pham Thai Nhu Mai said this was the first time the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam visited Kazakhstan and also the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese leader to Kazakhstan in more than 30 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992.

In 2023, President of Kazakhstan KJTokayev visited Vietnam. The visit was an important "push" in the bilateral relationship, promoting political trust, consolidating traditional friendship and enhancing multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan. This state visit by General Secretary To Lam is historic, bringing the bilateral relationship into depth and comprehensive development in all areas. The bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan will be upgraded to a new level in line with the common interests of the two countries.
