According to a statement from the White House on July 22, Indonesia has agreed to eliminate tariffs on more than 99% of US goods, as well as eliminate non-tariff barriers for US companies. Meanwhile, the US will impose a 19% reciprocal tax on goods imported from Indonesia.
The two sides will finalize a formal agreement in the coming weeks. The agreement also includes commitments by the US and Indonesia on digital trade and investment.

“The United States and Indonesia will negotiate favorable rules of origin to ensure that the benefits of the agreement go to both countries, not third countries,” the White House said in a statement.
Writing on the social network Truth Social on July 22, US President Donald Trump said the agreement with Indonesia was a big win for manufacturers, technology companies, workers and farmers.
Before announcing the deal with Indonesia, Mr. Trump announced a 19% tariff on goods from the Philippines. The information was released after President Trump met with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 22.
Mr. Trump mentioned that the Philippines will open its market and not impose import tariffs on American goods. In addition, the two countries will also cooperate in the military field.

Also on July 22, Mr. Trump announced that he had completed a “huge” agreement with Japan. The US leader said that Japan would invest 550 billion USD in the US, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.
“Most importantly, Japan will open its country to trade, including autos, rice, and agricultural products. Japan will pay a 15% reciprocal tariff to the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Before Mr. Trump's announcement, the Asahi newspaper reported that the representative of the Japanese tariff negotiation team, Mr. Akazawa Ryosei, was present at the White House and met with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, as well as US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent on July 22.
