The Can Tho City Party Committee was established on July 1, 2025, based on the merger of the Party Committees of Soc Trang Province, Hau Giang Province, and Can Tho City. Currently, the city's Party Committee has 109 subordinate Party committees under the City Party Committee, with 141,422 Party members. The First Congress of Delegates, for the 2025-2030 term, of the Party Committees at all levels in the city has set the goal of enhancing the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations, building a clean and strong political system; mobilizing all resources to the maximum extent; and developing the potential and advantages to build the city in general, and each locality in particular, for rapid and sustainable development...

The people of Phu Loi A hamlet, Phu Huu commune, are very excited about the upgrading and expansion of the road along the Cai Muong Cut canal. This is one of the first projects in the locality to realize the Resolution of the First Party Congress of the commune, term 2025-2030.

Ms. Le Thi Phoi, a resident whose house is located along the Cai Muong Cut canal road, happily said: “Previously, the road was only 2 meters wide, with many potholes and cracks, making it unsafe to travel. Recently, thanks to government investment, we voluntarily moved our fences, cut down trees, and donated land to widen the road to 3.5 meters. Now, the road is wide, paved with clean concrete, making traffic convenient, and the people are very happy.”

According to Mr. Bui Hong Can, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Phu Huu commune, to implement the Resolution of the First Party Congress of Phu Huu commune, the commune coordinated with various units to build and upgrade the Vam Kenh Thay Cai Bridge, Ngon Kenh Dao Bridge, the Thay Cai Canal road, the Phu Tri B1 hamlet road, the Bau Ke Xuoi Canal road, the Nga La - Gian Gura road, the Xeo Muong - Ong Ta route road, and Phu Huu 4 Primary School, Phu Tan Kindergarten, etc. Besides coordinating the implementation of infrastructure projects, the commune Party Committee established two working groups, led by the Standing Committee of the commune Party Committee, to work with Party branches, agencies, and units to understand the situation, difficulties, obstacles, proposals, and recommendations, so that timely solutions can be provided. The working groups surveyed the current state of the transportation system in the area to create a list of investment upgrades; and surveyed the economic situation and living conditions of the people to provide assistance.

In Thoi An Hoi commune, at the beginning of August 2025, the commune Party Committee successfully held its first Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Immediately after the Congress, the commune Party Committee quickly institutionalized the Congress Resolution through action programs, plans, and specialized resolutions, determined to put the Party Committee's policies into practice.

According to Mr. Ngo Van Phong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Thoi An Commune Party Committee, to effectively achieve the set goals and targets, the Commune Party Committee has concretized the Congress resolution with an action program and implementation plan based on the "6 clear" principle: clear person to do, clear task, clear deadline, clear responsibility, clear results, and clear authority. Besides institutionalizing the Congress resolution, the Thoi An Commune Party Committee has directed agencies and units to coordinate in building and upgrading infrastructure, especially transportation infrastructure, to meet the criteria for new rural development.

Mr. Hoang Van Kham, Deputy Secretary of the Dai An Hamlet Party Branch, said: “We are currently campaigning and mobilizing people to hand over land so that the State can invest in building two traffic bridges to facilitate trade.” According to Mr. Nguyen Van Toi, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Ninh Thoi Hamlet, the Party Branch has coordinated with the people to contribute to the construction and completion of the 3,200-meter-long road from Uncle Ba Duoc to Ben Than peak...

New political resolve

The Party Committee of Vinh Trinh commune has set the goal for the 2025-2030 term to build a clean and strong Party and political system; develop the economy towards industry, trade, services, and high-tech agriculture; and mobilize all resources to build the commune into a model new rural area. The Party Committee has identified targets such as striving to achieve an average per capita income of over 111 million VND by 2030, a production value of 67,200 billion VND; and establishing 100 private enterprises and cooperatives… Therefore, currently, the political system and people of Vinh Trinh commune are implementing many specific programs and plans, determined to create a breakthrough, aiming towards the goal of building a prosperous and beautiful Vinh Trinh in the new term.

According to Mr. Huynh Huu Thong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh Trinh commune, determined to turn the policy into reality, the Party committee, government, and people of Vinh Trinh are currently making the most of key projects being implemented in the commune, such as: Vinh Thanh Industrial Park (phase 1), the project connecting National Highway 80 with Vinh Thanh Industrial Park, the project connecting the access road to Vam Cong Bridge, Phu My 3 Industrial Park project, the Western Ring Road project… to shift the economic structure from agriculture to industry linked with trade and services. The commune is doing a good job of compensation and creating clean land to attract investment in key and strategic projects.

At the end of September 2025, the Can Tho City Party Committee held its first Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term. The Congress set the goal of striving to become a national growth pole by 2030, playing a driving role in development, spreading and leading the entire region. By 2045, it aims to be an ecological, civilized, and modern city, striving to be among the moderately developed cities in Asia, and becoming a livable city in Vietnam. The goal is to successfully achieve 28 targets, including a Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices of at least VND 717,000 billion by 2030; a GRDP per capita of approximately VND 215 million by 2030; and an average annual GRDP growth rate of 10-10.5% or higher during the 2025-2030 period. The average monthly income per capita is projected to reach at least 8.5 million VND/person/month by 2030; total annual budget revenue is expected to increase by approximately 15%, striving to reach an estimated 57,000 billion VND by 2030… Immediately after the Congress, the Can Tho City Party Committee institutionalized the Resolution through programs, plans, and specialized resolutions to successfully achieve the set goals and targets.

In order to successfully implement the tasks for 2026 and the 2026-2030 period, recently, at the 7th session of the Can Tho City People's Council, term 2021-2026, Mr. Le Quang Tung - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the City Party Committee - proposed that Party committees, government agencies, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations at all levels, the business community, officials, Party members, and the people focus on effectively implementing the policies and orientations of the Party and the State; conduct a review, supplement, and adjust all types of planning in a synchronized manner, maximizing the potential and development space; improve mechanisms to attract investment, creating a favorable environment for the private economy and strategic investors; allocate budget in a focused and prioritized manner, giving priority to key infrastructure projects in transportation, urban development, logistics, healthcare, education, science and technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, etc. Accelerate the implementation of projects to improve capital efficiency and create momentum for attracting new investments; effectively carry out poverty reduction and social welfare programs; consolidate and strengthen national defense and security in conjunction with harmonious socio-economic development…
