In particular, the outstanding areas are tourism activities which continue to increase strongly. In the first 7 months of the year, there were nearly 7.7 million arrivals, reaching 72.2% of the plan; the number of tourists staying reached 3,486,700, reaching 85% of the plan; total revenue from tourism is estimated at 6,396 billion VND, reaching 71% of the plan. In addition, the whole city currently has 859 OCOP products, of which 3 OCOP products have achieved 5 stars, 239 OCOP products have achieved 4 stars...
At the meeting, leaders of the People's Committees of communes and wards reported that after nearly 1.5 months of operation, they have basically met and served the people's needs. However, some communes and wards still face difficulties in handling administrative procedures, especially procedures related to people's land. Some communes and wards have only 1 surveyor but every day they have to receive 10-15 records related to surveying and issuing certificates to people. Some communes have received more than 2,000 records in the past nearly 1.5 months, of which more than 1,000 records are related to land procedures, many officers are overloaded...
According to Mr. Ngo Thai Chan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, the department has recently sent 103 officers to support communes and wards to resolve land-related procedures for people. In the near future, more specialized officers will be transferred to communes and wards with a sudden increase in land-related records. Regarding the 2,000 overdue land records, the reason is that connecting data from the locality was previously difficult. However, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City committed to completely handling them by August 25, 2025.
In his concluding remarks, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Van Lau acknowledged and commended the efforts of the communes and wards who worked with great spirit to serve the people well. At the same time, he requested the relevant departments and branches to absorb the recommendations of the communes and wards to promptly come up with solutions to overcome difficulties.
Referring to the tasks in the coming time, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City emphasized: Communes and wards need to stabilize the apparatus, perfect the personnel to operate the local government well. In particular, focus on improving the skills of professional departments, well handling administrative procedures for people and businesses smoothly. This is an important and consistent goal of the Public Administration Service Centers.
