On the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the Fisheries Industry's Traditional Day (April 1, 1959 - April 1, 2025), on the morning of April 1, at the central beach of Tuan Chau Tourist Area (Tuan Chau Ward), Ha Long City organized a program to release fish to restore aquatic resources.
After 66 years of construction and development, along with the whole country, the fisheries industry of Ha Long City has gradually developed. From a small-scale, backward technology, near-shore fishing industry, it has now shifted towards a modern, integrated fishery, contributing positively to the socio -economic development of the city.
In 2024, the output of Ha Long City's seafood industry will reach 4,960 tons, of which: Exploitation output will reach 2,560 tons, aquaculture will reach 2,400 tons (mainly saltwater seafood). The value of seafood production at current prices will reach nearly 800 billion VND, accounting for over 60% of the total production value of the agricultural sector. Ha Long seafood products are of high quality and trusted by the market.
In recent years, the city has focused on directing the protection of aquatic resources in a drastic and synchronous manner, in conjunction with the protection of the marine environment and the regeneration of aquatic resources. Thanks to that, aquatic resources have shown positive signs of recovery, especially in strictly protected areas such as the core zone of Ha Long Bay. In particular, in February 2025, the City People's Committee approved the Detailed Aquaculture Plan, and at the same time announced and publicized the Plan and Detailed Aquaculture Map in the area; issued a plan to implement the detailed aquaculture plan as a basis for allocating water surface areas to organizations, households and individuals in need of aquaculture.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh - Vice Chairman of Ha Long City People's Committee praised and highly appreciated the results that the city's fisheries sector has achieved in recent times.
Besides the efforts and achievements, Mr. Minh also frankly acknowledged that there are still illegal fishing activities in the city, causing depletion of aquatic resources such as: using electric pulses, explosives, small mesh nets, fishing in the wrong areas, wrong routes...
"In the coming time, the city will continue to strengthen the protection of the marine environment, actively regenerate aquatic resources, and combat destructive fishing. Strive to successfully complete the 2025 Plan, which sets the output of exploited aquatic products at over 5,000 tons and the value of aquatic product growth at 850 billion VND," emphasized the Vice Chairman of Ha Long City.
At the fish seed release ceremony, delegates and people reviewed the tradition of the aquaculture industry and released about 200,000 aquatic seeds, including: giant tiger prawn, sea bream, grouper, and sea bass. Of which, the seed source supported by units, businesses and seed businesses accounted for about 60%.
Ms. Le Ha, a Ha Long resident who participates in releasing aquatic species, shared: "The maintenance of the activity of releasing aquatic species into the wild is implemented annually by Ha Long City to raise people's awareness of the meaning and benefits of regenerating, protecting and developing aquatic resources. Thereby, each citizen will become a propagandist, a practitioner, joining hands to protect the environment, protect aquatic resources and resolutely say no to illegal fishing, preventing acts of destroying aquatic resources".
