On the afternoon of August 29, Associate Professor Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - said that at the job fair held on the same day, 55 medical units successfully recruited 200 doctors. Notably, 74 doctors chose to work long-term at the grassroots health sector, an increase of 26 doctors compared to 2024.
This rate increased from 21% in 2024 to 37% in 2025, showing that there has been a change in awareness of the workplace, the commitment of doctors after practicing at health stations and grassroots health has created an increasingly greater attraction for young doctors.
Specifically, Tan Thoi Hiep Regional Medical Center and Phu Nhuan Regional Medical Center each recruited 8 doctors, Hoc Mon Regional Medical Center recruited 7 doctors.
In addition, medical centers and hospitals far from the center in the old Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces such as: Bac Tan Uyen Regional Medical Center, Long Dat Regional Medical Center, Vung Tau Regional Medical Center... participated for the first time but recruited 16 doctors.
Notably, the Center for Disease Control and the 115 Emergency Center are very special medical facilities that previously seemed very difficult to recruit young doctors, but this year they have recruited 11 doctors.
What few people think of is that social protection centers have also recruited doctors, such as Tan Hiep Social Protection Center and Mental Health Care Center.
The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health shared that the pilot program of practical training at hospitals attached to medical stations for newly graduated doctors is a creative effort of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector in training doctors.
The goal is to help young doctors get closer to the reality of community health, understand the operations of the grassroots health system, thereby forming a mindset of serving people comprehensively, from prevention to treatment.
Doctors participating in this program also have the opportunity to choose a long-term workplace through a job fair organized by the Department of Health.
The job fair has truly brought profound meaning to the health sector of Ho Chi Minh City, helping to effectively connect the human resources of doctors trained in practice at hospitals associated with health stations with the recruitment needs of medical facilities.
At the job fair, each unit is arranged a booth by the organizers to introduce job vacancies.
The image of hospital directors sitting at recruitment counters to directly interview and sign memorandums of understanding with young doctors during the job fair is truly a vivid picture, demonstrating fairness and transparency in human resource selection.
The job fair is not only a career opportunity, but also a message of confidence in the young generation of doctors - those who will make an important contribution to building a fair, high-quality, effective and sustainable health system.
To date, 547 young doctors have completed the pilot practice program at hospitals attached to health stations, promptly supplementing public health facilities, especially at the grassroots level.
