"Regarding the level of questions that differentiate candidates, the department will calculate to suit the actual situation after the merger.
It is expected that the department will announce sample questions for three 10th grade entrance exams at the end of October 2025 so that teachers and students can feel secure and have appropriate teaching and learning orientations," a department leader informed.
After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City currently has 490 public and non-public secondary schools, with a total of over 750,000 students. Of which, there are about 150,000 grade 9 students in the 2025-2026 school year.
More than 70% of junior high school graduates enter public grade 10
Ho Chi Minh City will continue to strengthen the implementation of student orientation after junior high school. Thereby ensuring that 100% of students after graduating from junior high school will study in high school and equivalent systems such as continuing education, vocational secondary schools; Creating all conditions for students after finishing junior high school to continue to study at high school. Moving towards achieving the target of at least 85% of people of the age to complete high school, and equivalent by 2030 according to the target set in Resolution 71 of the Politburo .
For the 2026 grade 10 entrance exam, Ho Chi Minh City plans to mobilize at least 70% of junior high school graduates to enter grade 10 public high schools.
