On December 11-12, the 2025 Student Scientific Research Conference, held at Cao Thang Technical College (Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), attracted hundreds of Vietnamese and Japanese students. The conference, organized by Cao Thang Technical College and Ariake Kosen College (Japan), aimed to create an academic and experimental environment for students.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes when speaking English!

Speaking at the conference, Professor Takuichiro Ino, representing Ariake Kosen College, stated that English is a crucial language of communication, especially for engineers and researchers. For students studying engineering, presenting or delivering in-depth research results in English is undoubtedly a significant challenge, posing a considerable psychological barrier.

"This is a great opportunity for students from both countries to enhance communication. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, don't be afraid to be wrong. Most importantly, you have dared to be more confident and overcome your own shyness and timidity," said Professor Takuichiro Ino.

Representatives from Ariake Kosen College emphasized that language learning is not just about simple communication, but also about building confidence and the ability to work in multinational teams.

Mr. Vo Dong Duy, Head of the Department of Continuing Education - Vocational and University Education - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, highly appreciated the pioneering and proactive spirit of Ho Chi Minh City College of Technology in implementing training activities associated with international integration, especially in implementing Decision No. 2371/QD-TTg dated October 27, 2025 of the Prime Minister on the implementation of the Project "Making English the second language in schools in the period 2025–2035, with a vision to 2045".

"The bold decision to organize a student scientific conference in English, with the participation of students from KOSEN universities in Japan, is clear evidence that the school has taken the lead and actively implemented the policy of improving English proficiency, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the city and the country," Mr. Duy said.

At the conference, a group of students from Cao Thang Technical College impressed with their project "Industrial Alcohol Concentration Measurement Device".

To get a clearer picture of the project, many groups brought models to present.

Hoang Lam, a third-year student majoring in electrical and electronic engineering technology, said the group developed the project from a course assignment. The device can check alcohol levels and continuously monitor workers entering and exiting the factory, while also using fingerprints to verify identity.

"The team spent about 8 weeks completing the project and 2 weeks translating everything into English. This was also the first time the team presented in English to a large audience, so it was quite stressful," Lam said.

Dr. Le Dinh Kha, Principal of Cao Thang Technical College, hopes that students can seize good opportunities to further develop their skills and knowledge from Japan.

Dr. Le Dinh Kha, Principal of Cao Thang Technical College, said this is the second time the school has organized a scientific conference for students from both countries. This year, nearly 30 research projects from Japan and Vietnam are participating. Notably, in addition to Ariake Kosen College, four other schools are also participating this year: Anan Kosen, Tokyo Kosen, Gifu Kosen, and Kochi Kosen.

"The presence of schools within the Kosen system has brought diversity and expanded opportunities for academic and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan," said Dr. Le Dinh Kha.

As part of the program, the school will also organize the Vietnam-Japan Job Fair (on December 12th) and the 2nd KOSEN Japan-Vietnam Seminar (on December 13th), which are expected to attract a large number of domestic and international experts.
