Coach Kim Sang Sik made three changes to the starting lineup compared to the opening match win against U22 Laos on December 3rd, which Vietnam won 2-1. Phi Hoang came on as left back, and captain Khuat Van Khang was moved up to right forward to replace Thanh Nhan.

Midfielder Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong started alongside Thai Son in the center circle, replacing Xuan Bac. Although he had recovered from the injury sustained in the win against U22 Laos, Xuan Bac remained on the sidelines.

The remaining change was the inclusion of Viktor Lê from the start. This Vietnamese-Russian player played as a central striker, replacing Quốc Việt. This also marked Viktor Lê's first appearance at the SEA Games 33.

With notable changes in the attacking line, the Vietnam U22 team promises to create a good game against Malaysia U22.

PRE-MATCH INFORMATION:

After two matches in Group B of the men's football tournament at the 33rd SEA Games, the Malaysian U22 team is temporarily leading with 3 points (goal difference +3). The Vietnamese U22 team also has 3 points, but is temporarily ranked second due to a lower goal difference (+1).

Therefore, in this direct confrontation, the Vietnam U22 team must defeat Malaysia U22 to secure first place in the group and the only official ticket to the semi-finals. Conversely, Malaysia U22 only needs a draw to secure first place in the group.

But there's another option: both teams could qualify if they draw. In that case, U22 Malaysia would advance to the semi-finals as group winners, while Vietnam would be the best-performing second-placed team.

In another notable match, the Singapore U22 team will face the host nation, Thailand U22. Thailand only needs a draw to secure first place in Group A and a spot in the semi-finals. However, with their superior class, Thailand U22 will certainly be aiming for a victory against Singapore.
