On the morning of May 1, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City said the city will not display 10,500 drones that evening.
According to the first flight plan, tonight at 8:30 - 8:45 pm, 10,500 drones will perform to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
However, the city changed its plans and performed on the evening of April 30. During the performance on the evening of April 30, due to widespread interference, there was a possibility of unsafe flight. To ensure flight safety, the organizer decided to stop the flight and retrieve the drone.
Previously, on the evening of April 28, Ho Chi Minh City held a rehearsal for a light show using 10,500 drones.
The performance created vivid images, recreating important historical moments of the nation, such as the image of a tank crashing into the gate of the Independence Palace, the liberation flag flying on the roof of the Independence Palace and the image of President Ho Chi Minh, which deeply moved the audience.
Many locals and tourists expressed their surprise, pride and emotion when witnessing history "revived" on the city's skyline. In particular, the younger generation approaches history in a new, modern way, thereby making it easier to feel and be proud of the nation's glorious past.
This is the largest drone display ever in Ho Chi Minh City.
