After merging the two old provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau into Ho Chi Minh City, the electricity sector of these two provinces has 5 newly established electricity companies: Thuan An, Binh Duong, Ben Cat and Dat Do, Vung Tau.
Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City electricity sector previously had a total of 15 affiliated power companies. After July 1, 4 new power companies were established, including: Saigon Power Company (merged from Saigon Power, Tan Binh, part of Phu Tho and part of Gia Dinh), Tan Thuan Power Company (merged from Tan Thuan and Duyen Hai Power), Gia Dinh Power Company (merged from Gia Dinh Power and part of Go Vap), Cho Lon Power Company (merged from Cho Lon with Tan Phu and part of Phu Tho).
In addition, there are 6 units that remain the same: Thu Duc, Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, An Phu Dong and Binh Phu electricity companies.
Thus, there are 15 new power companies under the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation after the merger. People need to follow and grasp to contact when needed.
According to the leader of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation, the merger of administrative boundaries has opened up a larger development space for Ho Chi Minh City. The electricity industry also recognizes the important and heavy responsibility when the demand for electricity increases; the quality of electricity and electricity services is required and expected by customers to be superior, many large capacity loads and require high quality electricity such as Datacenter, high-tech manufacturing investors (chips, AI ...), plans to develop electric vehicles, metro ...
Besides, many huge challenges arise when receiving units in the same industry with dissimilar organizational models.
Many economic and technical indicators such as grid automation level, power supply reliability, customer service reception and resolution time are still far behind the level EVNHCMC achieved before the merger.
Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation highly agrees on the policy of immediately implementing tasks to stabilize the organizational structure, ensure the continuous and smooth implementation of the task of providing electricity to customers, establish and implement plans for investment, development, and grid renovation according to the roadmap to completely overcome existing problems within 2 to 3 years.
Previously, at the conference on technical management held at the end of July, the technical, safety, IT telecommunications departments, and the EVNHCMC Power System Control Center said that since the merger, they have coordinated with newly established companies to support and guide the installation of machinery and technology.
At the same time, quickly provide professional guidance so that new companies can start operating immediately after the merger.
Five newly established power companies in the former provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau also presented difficulties and obstacles in the process of operation. Especially in the initial stage of transitioning to the new operating model. Accordingly, because they have just started operating under the new model of EVNHCMC for about a week, they are still confused and cannot operate smoothly right away.
However, all units said that they have basically operated stably and as of August 1, they have officially operated under the common model of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation.
