The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent a document to the City People's Committee reporting on the review and inspection of old apartment buildings in the city. Accordingly, the Department of Construction has compiled and proposed 186 old apartment buildings that need to be inspected. This includes 56 apartment buildings that have not been inspected and 130 old apartment buildings that have been proposed for re-inspection.
The re-inspection of 130 previously inspected apartment buildings, according to the Department of Construction, because most of them were inspected in the period of 2016-2017 with inspection results of level C, it has not been determined whether they are subject to demolition or not according to the Housing Law 2023, so it is necessary to re-evaluate the quality of the construction.
For old apartment buildings that were inspected in the period 2016-2017 with level B inspection results, the Department of Construction proposed not to re-inspecte.
Regarding funding, the Department of Construction has compiled proposals from the People's Committees of wards with a total budget of about 32.5 billion VND to serve the inspection.
Some wards have large budgets such as Binh Quoi Ward (5.63 billion VND), Ban Co Ward (2.34 billion VND), Cho Lon Ward (2.93 billion VND), An Dong Ward (2.27 billion VND). However, there are still some wards that have not yet determined specific budgets such as Hanh Thong, Go Vap, Saigon, Vung Tau and Thanh My Tay.
The Department of Construction proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approve the policy of organizing the inspection of all 186 apartment buildings mentioned above, and at the same time assigned the Department of Finance to urgently arrange funds for the People's Committees of the wards to implement.
After inspection, the results will be publicly announced on the Department of Construction's electronic information portal, serving as the basis for plans to renovate and rebuild old apartment buildings in the area.
According to the Department of Construction, the re-inspection of a series of old apartment buildings not only aims to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, but also creates an important basis for Ho Chi Minh City to implement its urban renovation and beautification plan in the coming period.
The inspection results will help the city accurately classify each project, thereby building a suitable treatment roadmap, both meeting practical needs and ensuring socio -economic efficiency.
