On the afternoon of April 18, at the Phu Quoc City People's Committee Hall, the Economic and Urban Newspaper in collaboration with the Phu Quoc City People's Committee organized the Workshop "Phu Quoc resort real estate towards APEC 2027 and sustainable development".
The workshop was attended by Mr. Cam Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Huu Lam - Deputy Director of the Department of National Assembly, Local and Mass Organization Affairs; Mr. Giang Thanh Khoa - Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Province; Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee; leaders of departments, branches, associations...
With a strong boom in both the number of visitors and the rapid development of the infrastructure system beyond expectations, Phu Quoc was chosen as the venue for the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) in 2027. Phu Quoc has many projects, among which are super entertainment and resort complexes that are highly competitive domestically and regionally.

The workshop was held to assess the current status of investment, management and use of tourism real estate in Phu Quoc City, thereby proposing sustainable development planning solutions, especially urgent projects serving APEC-2027.
This is also an opportunity for local authorities, experts in the field of construction planning, and real estate investment units in Phu Quoc City to interact directly, share and resolve problems in planning work, ensuring efficiency in resort real estate investment.
Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of the Economic and Urban Newspaper, said: The tourism real estate market segment has developed vigorously in recent years with many high-end real estate products such as: Resorts; Tourist villas (resort villas, shopvillas); Tourist townhouses (shoptels), commercial townhouses (shophouses); tourist apartment models (Condotels); hotel apartments (boutique hotels); homestay tourism...
Tourism real estate products not only meet the increasing demand for relaxation and entertainment of tourists but also create more attractive business opportunities for secondary investors and people, bringing large revenue to the state budget, and being an important driving force for the growth of the real estate market in general.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, besides the above positive signals, investment in resort real estate is still limited by the pressure of increasing input costs, the number and skill level of human resources, legal difficulties, the issuance of pink books for resort products... Therefore, land resources have not really been exploited, promoted fully and sustainably to become an important internal resource serving the socio-economic development of the country.
Land use in many places is still wasteful and inefficient. Sometimes, in some places, the interests of the State, people, businesses, investors, etc. are not really balanced. One of the reasons for the above situation is that policies and laws are still inadequate, overlapping, and not suitable to reality, causing obstacles and bottlenecks for development.
In particular, the lack of consistency in policy implementation and the delay of some local authorities in issuing certificates of land use rights, house ownership rights and other assets attached to land... have affected businesses' reputation, caused financial losses, and affected the business investment environment, requiring urgent solutions to promptly resolve the problems.

Therefore, finding the root cause of the shortcomings to find solutions to remove obstacles is really necessary to create conditions for the type of resort real estate to develop further in our country in general and in Phu Quoc city in particular in the coming time.
The workshop is an opportunity for experts, managers and businesses to assess the current investment situation in the field of resort real estate on Phu Quoc Island; point out the advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and challenges of Phu Quoc resort real estate before the APEC Week 2027 event and towards sustainable development; legal policies and practices on the Phu Quoc tourism real estate market. At the same time, clarify the difficulties and inadequacies and propose solutions to remove them, improve the effectiveness of management work, contributing to perfecting legal policies for the Phu Quoc tourism real estate market in particular and Vietnam in general.
At the workshop, experts gave an overview of the tourism real estate market in Vietnam and Phu Quoc, from which they assessed the development trend of the tourism real estate market in the coming time.
Discussing current policies and laws on the real estate market today - Legal bottlenecks that need to be removed and practical barriers that need to be cleared; the impacts and influences of the international environment and current policy and legal orientations in investment and business of tourism real estate in Vietnam specifically impact Phu Quoc.
In addition, the report "Proposing policy mechanisms to promote sustainable development for Phu Quoc city", including "Policy mechanisms for real estate" of Phu Quoc Tourism Development Investment Association...
