According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the period 2026 - 2030 is a pivotal time to shape the new development model of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger, aiming to become a "global megacity". To realize this goal, the environmental monitoring program needs to be strategically restructured, directly serving development orientations, including ensuring "high quality of life" with a development mindset in the direction of "3 regions - 1 special zone - 3 corridors - 5 pillars".
On that basis, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has inspected, reviewed and proposed adjustments to the environmental monitoring network for the period 2026 - 2030. This content is integrated into the summary report of Ho Chi Minh City planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; and at the same time updated in the component "Current status and plans for environmental protection, nature conservation and biodiversity; protection, exploitation and use of resources".
From the implementation results, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that the Department of Finance and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies integrate, adjust and synthesize the monitoring network into the planning synthesis reports and in the component "Current status and plans for environmental protection, nature conservation and biodiversity; protection, exploitation and use" in 3 areas into a synthesis report to adjust the planning of Ho Chi Minh City to unify and synchronize the content suitable to the current new situation.
Along with that, relevant units continue to review and update relevant national and regional planning to ensure connectivity in the overall development planning of Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time.
