HCMC: Many practical activities to care for victims of Agent Orange

In the first 6 months of 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has implemented many effective care programs, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of Agent Orange victims in the city.

According to the preliminary report, Ho Chi Minh City currently has 15 district-level Associations with a total of 4,468 members. In the past 6 months, the Association has mobilized more than VND8.1 billion (including more than VND6.1 billion from the budget and more than VND2 billion from socialization) to carry out practical activities such as: supporting livelihood capital, granting scholarships, and repairing houses for difficult cases.

Many effective care models from the grassroots continue to be maintained and expanded. Typically, the Association of Agent Orange Victims in Cu Chi District has organized free literacy classes and physical therapy for children of Agent Orange victims, creating conditions to help them recover and integrate into the community.

In particular, the walking program "For Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims in 2025" is scheduled to take place in August at Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11), to commemorate the 64th anniversary of the Agent Orange Disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 - August 10, 2025), and is expected to attract a large number of people to participate.

Since the beginning of the year, the Association has welcomed 25 international delegations to learn about the actual consequences of Agent Orange and the work to overcome the consequences in Vietnam. Among them, the visit of the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Belgium to meet the victims at the War Remnants Museum has shown the international friends' concern for this issue.

With its persistent efforts, the Association has been awarded many noble prizes. Three outstanding individuals of the Association were honored in the program to commend “50 years of building, protecting and developing Ho Chi Minh City”.

In the last 6 months of 2025, the Association will continue to organize activities to commemorate the 64th anniversary of the Agent Orange/dioxin disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 - August 10, 2025); coordinate the organization of events such as fundraising golf tournaments, "Proud of the city I love" running race; survey data on 3rd and 4th generation victims to propose appropriate support policies; coordinate care for victims on the occasion of July 27, August 10 and the opening of the new school year...
