Specifically, the Department of Health requested medical examination and treatment facilities to urgently review and check the list of drugs, functional foods and medical equipment being traded and used within the premises of medical examination and treatment facilities (including pharmacies and other business establishments); ensure that counterfeit products or products of unknown origin are not traded or used.
Review the process of purchasing drugs, functional foods and medical equipment at the unit in the past; ensure that the supplied products are goods permitted for circulation and supplied by legal businesses, with full invoices and documents. In case of detecting products with suspicious signs, products not permitted for circulation, products that do not meet quality standards, the unit shall immediately seal and stop using these products; report to the management agency, competent authorities for inspection, verification and handling according to the provisions of law.
In addition, strengthen the management of drug information activities, drug advertising, functional food advertising, medical equipment advertising at the unit, ensuring compliance with legal regulations. Report the business situation and use related to detected counterfeit products to the Department of Health before 5:00 p.m. on May 19. In case no counterfeit products are detected being traded or used at the unit, the unit must still report according to regulations.
Previously, as reported by SGGP Newspaper, on the afternoon of May 16, the Economic Police Department (Hanoi City Police) informed that the unit had just dismantled a group producing counterfeit functional foods, with an especially large quantity, and decided to temporarily detain 6 subjects.
The results of the emergency search seized 30 corrugated molds for box covers, 28,531 functional food boxes, 34,822 functional food bottles, 38,935 blister packs containing functional food pills, 8,535 boxes containing various types of boxes, nearly 100 boxes of stamps and labels, various types of machinery, production lines, tools, raw materials... for the production of counterfeit goods, equivalent to more than 100 tons of goods that are functional foods and fake medical equipment (about more than 100 different product codes). The subjects confessed to having produced and traded counterfeit goods since 2020, and sold them in all pharmacies and hospitals nationwide.
