Ho Chi Minh City conducts mass food safety training after having new administrative unit

(Dan Tri) - Officials in 167 wards, communes and 1 special zone of the new administrative unit, along with leaders and medical staff of schools, will be trained in food safety by Ho Chi Minh City from now until August 8.

On July 16, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said that in order to synchronously and promptly implement food safety work, especially in the context of administrative unit restructuring, the Department has issued a plan to organize professional knowledge training courses in the area.

Accordingly, from July 15 to July 31, the Department of Food Safety will organize online training for food safety officers in 167 wards/communes and 1 special zone, via the Zoom platform, live streaming from the Department's headquarters to 168 connecting points at the People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones.

The training program will focus on the following contents:

Updating the system of legal documents on food safety; providing guidance on granting Food Safety Eligibility Certificates according to management areas; providing guidance on self-declaration dossiers, registering declarations and managing food advertisements; implementing post-inspection and monitoring of conferences and seminars related to food;

Implement the Project on traceability, sample collection and hazard monitoring; guide handling and coordinate food poisoning investigation; communicate to raise public awareness; skills in inspection and handling of administrative violations.

At the same time, the Department of Food Safety coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City to organize 7 direct training courses for leaders and medical staff of schools at all levels, international schools, continuing education centers and units under the Department of Education and Training (with a total of nearly 3,500 participants), taking place from July 17 to August 8.

The key training contents in these 7 classes include: Procedures for granting food safety certificates for boarding kitchens; Managing the self-inspection system in schools; Identifying food safety hazards, responsibilities and authorities of the facility.

Implement traceability and food monitoring in schools; coordinate investigation and handling of food poisoning in schools; violations and penalties in the field of food safety.

In addition, on July 17, the Department of Food Safety will coordinate with the Dormitory and Urban Area Management Center of Ho Chi Minh City National University to organize separate training for food processing staff in kitchens and canteens here, to prevent the risk of food poisoning for boarding students.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety, the above series of activities is an important preparation step, contributing to building a safe and healthy food environment for people (especially students), to ensure the goal of not letting food poisoning occur in the new school year 2025-2026.
