Besides the food , what keeps people coming back is the unique experience, turning a seemingly natural disaster into a rare business opportunity.
At the end of the rainy season, when the Tha Chin River rises and overflows its banks, the people of Nakhon Pathom province usually prepare themselves for the familiar flood scene. However, in a small corner along the river, the rising water brings not only schools of fish but also a stream of tourists to experience it.
That is Pa Jit restaurant – a new phenomenon on social networks. Here, diners eat in calf-high water, while right under the table are schools of fish swimming around.

Ms. Pornkamol Prangprempree - Owner of Pa Jit restaurant, Thailand said: "At first, when I saw the flood, I thought there would definitely be no more customers. Who would come with this flood? I had prepared food but was worried I wouldn't be able to sell it."
But a social media post capturing the scene changed everything. The flooding that seemed like a challenge for the business unexpectedly turned into an advantage, helping the restaurant's revenue double its normal day.
Pornkamol Prangprempree added: "Someone posted online that there were fish swimming around here. So everyone came in droves. Honestly, business is better than when there was a flood. People come here to eat, wade in the water and play with the fish."
Not only children but also adults are attracted by this close-to-nature experience.
Pa Jit has been around for over 30 years and this isn’t the first time it’s been flooded. But never before has flooding turned into such a big business opportunity. During peak hours, the restaurant is packed with 60 customers, with staff in boots and trousers carrying food to tables.
Flooding is expected to last for several more weeks due to rising tides and the lingering effects of the rainy season, meaning Pa Jit will continue to be a prominent check-in spot in the area.
