Sweet fruits from digital transformation efforts

- The reality of journalism is changing a lot in the process of creating works and producing press products as well as many issues that need attention in production and distribution, and the management of the editorial office. Making efforts to transform digitally in many aspects of work, Tuyen Quang Newspaper has been and is confidently mastering technology, innovating the way of operating to adapt and fulfill its mission.

Building innovative software for editorial management processes

Seeing the need for change, since 2020, Tuyen Quang Newspaper has made important steps in digital transformation to innovate the publishing process and improve the quality of service to readers. The newspaper has conducted a provincial-level scientific research project to innovate and improve the effectiveness of propaganda, including researching and building an editorial management software to help shorten the publishing process, store data for each page and issue; make the editing process and acceptance of press works transparent. At the same time, it helps save nearly 100 million VND per year thanks to digitalization, without having to buy paper and ink as before.

AI-powered TV news creates MCs and produces content.

Along with changing the interface, features in CMS (web content management); producing multimedia works; 2022 marks the year the Newspaper has applied AI artificial intelligence to read radio, television... Many political news are integrated with text, still and moving images and audio from AI applications, creating a new look for the newspaper and contributing to making readers more interested.

Investment Newspaper bought Shorthand software and trained reporters and technicians on how to use it to create emagazines quickly and improve the quality of the work. The emagazines of reporters and speeches of provincial leaders designed from this application have increased their appeal compared to the previous text-only versions.

Innovation in cross-platform publishing

In late 2022, the Newspaper applied QR code stickers on printed and electronic newspapers, helping to access the content of interest more quickly, which was enthusiastically received by readers. Just scan the QR code at the top of the printed newspaper, you can immediately go to the link to read the electronic Tuyen Quang newspaper. Just scan the QR code attached to each article of the printed or electronic newspaper, readers can easily access the link related to the content of the article, with full, detailed information, more sounds and images.

By early 2025, the Newspaper had deployed QR codes to read newspapers at thousands of agency headquarters and public places for easy access. This is one of the ways to make printed newspapers multimedia, distributed on multiple platforms, creating new ways of storing and searching, helping to create more channels of rich data information, making the public stay with the newspaper for a long time and creating reliability in in-depth information.

Innovating the information transmission, Tuyen Quang Newspaper has built 5 fanpages on social network Facebook, 1 Youtube channel, 1 TikTok channel, 1 Zalo channel. Of which, Tuyen Quang Newspaper Online Fanpage and Tuyen Quang Newspaper TikTok have blue ticks. The Purple Region Fanpage mainly provides information on social culture. Tuyen Quang New Fanpage mainly provides information on economy. The Huong Vi Xu Tuyen Fanpage mainly provides information on cultural identity, tourism, and cuisine of the province. Amazing Tuyen Quang Fanpage uses English, mainly serving foreigners. Tuyen Quang Newspaper Zalo mainly provides daily news.

The Newspaper's social networking sites are new information channels to achieve the goal of multi-platform distribution, contributing to bringing the newspaper's information to many readers inside and outside the province without having to invest additional budget to print or buy paper newspapers as in the traditional distribution method.

Compared to the print newspaper distribution channel of more than 6,000 copies per issue, the circulation on social networks is showing outstanding advantages. Because this is a new, modern information channel; it spreads widely, easily reaching many audiences both inside and outside the national borders.

Artificial intelligence applications

March 2023 marked Tuyen Quang Newspaper as the first local Party newspaper agency in the country to organize a Workshop on GPT Chat, co-chaired by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association and attended by many domestic technology and AI experts. The workshop was broadcast live on the digital platform of the Newspaper, the Vietnam Journalists Association and many local Party newspapers, promptly helping journalists unify their understanding and behavior towards artificial intelligence, while approaching directions for applying AI to journalism activities.

In March 2023, the newspaper coordinated with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize a Workshop on GPT Chat.

In an effort to transform digitally and innovate content, the Newspaper has applied AI to read important news, host TV news, and organize the production of many other types of journalism.

The digital transformation efforts have brought sweet fruits. In 2022, Tuyen Quang Newspaper was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Central Propaganda Department. In 2023, the Newspaper was ranked 10th out of 143 local press agencies nationwide by the Ministry of Information and Communications in terms of maturity in digital transformation of the press. In 2024, it was ranked Good.

More importantly, digital transformation is helping Tuyen Quang Newspaper get closer to the public, actively contributing to bridging information between the Party and the People and vice versa.
