Awarding over 24,000 scholarships to encourage learning and talent for students in Soc Trang

STO - On June 9, at the headquarters of the specialized associations of Soc Trang province, the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education held a conference to review the work of promoting education in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2025. Attending were comrade Nguyen Ba Nhiem - Chairman of the Association for Promotion of Education in Soc Trang province, chairmen and vice chairmen of the association in districts, towns and cities.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the provincial education promotion associations developed 2,159 new members, bringing the total number of members in the province to 515,521 (reaching a rate of 30.27%); consolidated and established 1,828 education promotion committees (sub-associations) of agencies, departments, branches, and organizations at all levels.

The Association for the Promotion of Education at all levels has been flexible and diversified in its forms of mobilizing funds for the promotion of education and talent to support scholarships for studious and disadvantaged students to achieve the set targets. Thereby, 24,027 scholarships have been awarded to studious and disadvantaged students; students with high achievements in provincial, regional and national competitions for excellent students; students who are valedictorians of high schools in the province... with a total cost of more than 27.3 billion VND... Of which, the Provincial Association for the Promotion of Education has mobilized to award 1,176 scholarships of all kinds, with a total amount of over 1.9 billion VND; at the same time, full scholarships have been supported for 7 students from Soc Trang who are in difficult circumstances and are studious. In addition, the Provincial Association coordinated with PVI Insurance Company to award 3,500 motorbike insurance policies to association officials at all levels and officials and teachers of general schools in the province with a total amount of 301 million VND.

In order to promote the movement of building learning models, in the first 6 months of 2025, the whole Soc Trang province mobilized 375,081 cadres, civil servants, public employees and people to register to build the title of "Learning Citizen" (reaching a rate of 37.32%); 165,588 families registered to build the title of "Learning Family" (reaching a rate of 40.56%); 2,622 clans registered to build the title of "Learning Clan" (reaching a rate of 52.69%); 772 communities registered to build the title of "Learning Community" (reaching a rate of 87.23%); 996 units registered for the title of "Learning Unit" (reaching a rate of 95.49%). 108/108 community learning centers in communes, wards and towns maintained effective operations with a total of 1,215 classes, attended by 19,367 people.

For the tasks of the last 6 months of the year, all levels of the Association for the Promotion of Education focus on the work of perfecting the organizational structure. At the same time, continue to effectively implement the programs "Promoting the movement of regular learning, lifelong learning in families, clans, communities, and units in the period of 2021 - 2030"; "Building a model of learning citizens in the period of 2021 - 2030"... Strengthening the mobilization of socializededucation , raising funds for scholarships to encourage learning and talent.
