Perhaps never before has the position of teachers been placed at the center of major decisions like now. While the whole country is looking towards Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20 with colorful bouquets of flowers and touching stories about teacher-student relationships, at the same time, the Party and State are putting education at the center of a profound reform process: the Politburo issued Resolution 71 on education and training; the National Assembly passed the Law on Teachers - the first time in history that teachers have a separate law; and right in these 10th sessions, the National Assembly will consider synchronously amending three pillar laws including the Law on Education, the Law on Higher Education, the Law on Vocational Education, and the Resolution on Education Development. This is the time when we recognize not only the contributions of teachers but more than that, it is an opportunity to give them back their rightful place in the cause of education revival and national development.

During the days when the whole country was bustling with gratitude, I recalled the images of simple teachers that I was fortunate to meet in my life: the teacher in the lecture hall who patiently opened up a new world of knowledge, the teacher who went to the field with students in the sun and wind to teach through experience, or the teachers in remote areas who still held the hands of each child day and night to spell and do math in deprived conditions. They were quiet, persistent and never asked for anything for themselves. But it was they, with their dedication and belief in the path of education, who built the spiritual foundation for many generations, so that today the country can confidently enter the era of strong growth.
Education reform can only be successful when teachers are placed at the center. Resolution 71 has emphasized the core point: investing in education is investing in the future of the country, and among them, investing in teachers is the most important investment. The Law on Teachers, passed for the first time by the National Assembly, is a historic step. When teachers have their own legal framework, with clear authority, responsibility and protection, they will feel that society values their contributions. This is not only an acknowledgment but also a commitment from the State: teachers will not be alone in the journey of training human resources and nurturing talents.
But to show gratitude to teachers in the most practical way, we do not stop at bouquets of flowers or words of thanks. It is time for society to answer the question together: how can teachers not sacrifice too much, not have to follow invisible pressures from achievements, procedures, or demands that go beyond their professional duties? How can they live up to their profession, their role as leaders and inspirers? How can teachers in disadvantaged areas no longer have to worry about every meal, every lean season? And how can university lecturers - who have to shoulder both teaching and research - work in a truly academic environment, where creativity is respected and knowledge is cherished?
The legal reforms that the National Assembly is considering amending - from the Law on Education to the Law on Higher Education and the Law on Vocational Education - all aim to expand autonomy, improve training quality, standardize staff and create conditions for teachers to work professionally in the true sense. This change is necessary because the country is entering a new stage of development, where science - technology, innovation and high-quality human resources become decisive driving forces. No country can make a leap forward without good teachers, who always ignite in each student the desire to explore and contribute.

With the policies being strongly implemented, teachers will have a better, more transparent working environment and more development opportunities.
Today, when looking back at the journey of Vietnamese education, it is easy to see that the teaching staff are the ones under the most pressure. They carry on their shoulders the expectations of parents, the rapid changes of society, the responsibility of training the younger generation in the context of the fourth industrial revolution, and new demands for digital transformation and methodological innovation. Many teachers have to teach, manage, and research at the same time, while working conditions are not always commensurate. However, in this challenge, the qualities of a teacher shine even brighter: patience, compassion, belief in the value of knowledge and school culture.
Paying tribute to teachers at this time is therefore not only a reminder of the moral principle of "respecting teachers and valuing education", but also an affirmation that Vietnamese society is re-establishing the right position of education in the process of nation building. From resolutions at the highest level, to small classes in rural, mountainous and island areas, all meet at one point: the aspiration to build Vietnamese people who are comprehensively developed, have qualities, have capacity, and are responsible for the future of the nation. And that aspiration can only be aroused through the hands and hearts of teachers.
I believe that with the policies being strongly implemented, Vietnamese teachers will have a better, more transparent working environment and more development opportunities. However, besides mechanisms and policies, the most important thing is the understanding and sharing of the whole society. Every parent, every student, every community can become a "companion" of teachers - with respect, with a cooperative attitude and with faith in education.
In the spirit of gratitude month, I think about simple things: a greeting, a question, a message to an old teacher, or simply a change in the way we perceive the teaching profession. Gratitude is sometimes not a big thing; it is how we live so that teachers feel their efforts are recognized, so that they know that their lessons are not lost in the void, but are contributing to nurturing useful citizens, beautiful personalities for the country.
At the time when the country enters a new era of development, looking back at the past, we see more clearly: without teachers, there would be no generations of intellectuals, workers, artists, engineers, doctors... who have been and are building Vietnam today. Teachers are the beautiful memories of the past, the pillars of the present and the ones who lay the first bricks for the future.
November 20th this year therefore has a special meaning: it is not only a day of gratitude, but also a reminder of the great mission of education in the journey of building a strong and happy country. Gratitude to teachers is also gratitude to the values that make up the mettle and strength of Vietnam. And from that gratitude, together we continue to cultivate a humane, modern, and liberal education; where teachers shine, students develop, and the future of the country is written with the wisdom and compassion of the whole community.
