Launching a peak campaign against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

The assessment report at the conference stated that in the first 4 months of 2025, although departments, branches, agencies and units implemented mergers and reorganizations, they still ensured smooth operations, without leaving vacant areas, tasks and management objects. The fight against smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods across the border was well controlled. Domestic commodity prices were stable; the supply of goods, especially essential goods (food, foodstuffs, modern medicines, gasoline, oil, agricultural materials, etc.) was rich in types and designs, meeting the consumption needs of the people.

In 4 months, departments, branches, member agencies of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 and the local Steering Committee 389 have proactively grasped the situation and areas, promptly detected, inspected, arrested, and handled 294 violations, 312 subjects (a decrease of 187 cases compared to the same period in 2024), of which 56 cases of smuggled and prohibited goods were detected and handled (a decrease of 122 cases compared to the same period), 216 cases of trade fraud (a decrease of 78 cases compared to the same period), 22 cases of counterfeit goods and rights infringement (an increase of 13 cases compared to the same period); the total value of handling was more than 5.6 billion VND.

Representatives of sectors and members of Steering Committee 389 gave their opinions.

According to forecasts, in the coming time, prices and supply chains of essential goods will continue to fluctuate due to the impact of tax policies between countries, directly affecting the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. At the conference, Steering Committee 389 proposed solutions to strengthen local management; share information on subjects, goods, and new methods and tricks; review and grasp the local situation; strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations in the fight against counterfeit goods and groups of goods affecting consumers' health...

At the conference, the draft Decision on promulgating the operating regulations of Steering Committee 389 of Lao Cai province was approved, and at the same time, comments and proposed tasks to better combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the coming time.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Sinh delivered a concluding speech at the conference.

Concluding the conference, comrade Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 emphasized: From the forecasting and assessment of methods and tricks of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods that have been pointed out, the sectors, members of the Steering Committee, and localities in the process of implementing the merger and reorganization of the apparatus must still ensure the maintenance of effective tasks, smooth operations, not leaving vacant areas and management objects; coordinate well in implementing the work of managing areas, inspecting and handling violations. From May 15 to June 15, carry out a peak period of attacking, fighting, sweeping, preventing and repelling smuggling, trade fraud; production and circulation of counterfeit goods, fake goods, goods of unknown origin... in the spirit of direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh .
