Deploying electronic invoice solution generated from cash register

On May 8, the Tax Department of Region I held an online conference to accompany businesses, business households, and individual businesses in implementing the electronic invoice solution generated from cash registers according to Decree No. 70/2025/ND-CP of the Government.

On March 20, 2025, the Government issued Decree No. 70/2025/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 123/2020/ND-CP on invoices and documents. Accordingly, the management of electronic invoices and documents will be applied according to a new process to minimize risks and improve the effectiveness of invoice monitoring, especially electronic invoices generated from cash registers.

An electronic invoice generated from a cash register connected to transfer electronic data to the tax authority is an invoice with a tax authority code or electronic data so that the buyer can retrieve and declare information about the electronic invoice generated from the cash register by the organization or individual selling goods or providing services from the cash register system, the data is transferred to the tax authority in the prescribed format. A cash register is a cash register system that includes a synchronized electronic device or a system of many electronic devices combined together by an information technology solution with common functions such as: calculating money, storing sales transactions, and sales data. The subjects of application are enterprises with activities of selling goods and providing services, including selling goods and providing services directly to consumers (commercial centers; supermarkets; retail (except for cars, motorbikes, motorcycles and other motor vehicles); food and beverage; restaurants; hotels; passenger transport services, direct support services for road transport; art services, entertainment, recreation, cinema activities, other personal services according to regulations on the Vietnamese Economic Sector System) using electronic invoices generated from cash registers connected to transfer electronic data to tax authorities.
To use electronic invoices generated from cash registers, businesses subject to the application only need to meet the conditions of having an internet connection and a computer or smartphone or iPad; at the same time, register to use electronic invoices generated from cash registers with the tax authority and be accepted by the tax authority. From June 1, 2025, businesses subject to the application according to the instructions must register to use electronic invoices generated from cash registers.
