Exhibition of images, documents and artifacts "Hai Phong - Faith and aspiration to rise up"

Opening performance.

This is a meaningful event in a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025) and welcome the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival - Hai Phong 2025; celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

The exhibition displays nearly 400 images, documents and artifacts divided into three main parts, Part I: Using our strength to liberate ourselves (1888 -1955); Part II: Hai Phong - The city of Loyalty and Victory (1955 - 1975); Part III: Hai Phong - Reaching new heights (1975 - 2025). With many valuable documents released for the first time, it introduces to the public the attention and direction of President Ho Chi Minh towards Hai Phong city; the history of fighting, building and developing of the Party Committee, army and people of the city. That is a historical journey full of hardships, challenges but also extremely glorious of Hai Phong city. In which, the Party Committee and people of the city always remember, absorb and follow the instructions of President Ho Chi Minh in each historical period.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Mr. Vu Manh Ha, affirmed: “In the sacred atmosphere of the historic May days, we believe that this thematic exhibition will contribute to arousing pride in the cadres, soldiers and people of the Port City, especially the young generation of Hai Phong. From there, we will continue to strive to successfully achieve development goals in the new era - the era of the strong rise of the nation. The exhibition also contributes to conveying the development aspirations and belief in the bright future of Hai Phong city - an important highlight in the development triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, one of the growth engines of the Northern region and the whole country. The city is gradually realizing the goal of becoming a highly developed urban area in the group of leading cities in Asia and the world.”

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always reserved deep concern and special affection for Hai Phong city. From a very early age, he highly appreciated the strategic role of Hai Phong as a “major port of Bac Ky”, an important international maritime traffic hub, and at the same time a leading industrial center of the North and the whole country.

President Ho Chi Minh's affection and concern for the Port City were deeply expressed through his nine visits to the Party Committee, army and people of Hai Phong. During each visit, Uncle Ho was always close, caring, encouraging all classes of people and gave important instructions on economics, politics, culture and society for the city. His teachings have become precious spiritual assets, guiding all actions of generations of cadres, party members, army and people of Hai Phong in the journey of construction and development.

Exactly 70 years ago, on May 13, 1955, amid the joy and emotion of tens of thousands of people, Hai Phong became the last locality in the North to be completely liberated. After 70 years of continuous efforts, from a traditional industrial and seaport city, Hai Phong has grown strongly, becoming a major economic center of the country and an important growth pole of the Northern region.

At the opening ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi Hoang Mai emphasized: “This is an important and extremely meaningful exhibition, introducing the history of fighting, building and developing the Party Committee, army and people of the city, which is a historical journey full of hardships, challenges but also extremely glorious of Hai Phong city, in which the Party Committee and people of Hai Phong city always remember, absorb and follow the instructions of President Ho Chi Minh in each historical period”.

Within the framework of the Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong 2025, "Hai Phong - 70 years of faith and aspiration to rise up", through documents, images, and historical artifacts that are elaborately displayed, viewers will be able to return to the heroic milestones in the journey of fighting, protecting, building and developing of the Party Committee, army and people of the city. Those glorious achievements demonstrate the engravement of Uncle Ho's words by generations of cadres and people of the city; at the same time, spreading pride, fostering patriotism, and arousing the desire to contribute in every Hai Phong citizen today and tomorrow./.
