(CLO) Painter Le Lam is one of the typical representatives of Vietnamese revolutionary realism art. He left a deep impression through his vivid and realistic sketches of war.
On the evening of March 14, at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi ), the opening of the exhibition "Immortal Spring" took place, introducing to the public more than 200 works of diverse genres and materials by the late painter Le Lam.

Throughout his career, Le Lam has always maintained the view that realistic art is not simply about reproducing images but must also reflect the national spirit and identity.
Artist Le Lam has a large body of work thanks to his diligent working style, ability to sketch quickly and his willingness to go into the field during the years of resistance. He left behind thousands of battlefield sketches, propaganda paintings and woodcuts to serve the revolutionary propaganda.
According to art researcher Bui Nhu Huong, the legacy that Le Lam left behind is not only paintings but also a symbol of patriotism and the desire for freedom. His art is a connection between the past and the present, a reminder of the great sacrifices of his fathers' generation.

The exhibition is open until March 20. At the same time, "Immortal Spring" is exhibited on the online art exhibition space VAES of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.
Painter Le Lam (1931-2022) was born Vu Ai Quoc. He graduated from the College of Fine Arts, Resistance course in the Viet Bac War Zone, taught directly by painter To Ngoc Van.
Artist Le Lam mainly painted realistic paintings, on the theme of war and revolution, notably the following: Woodcuts “Portrait of President Ho Chi Minh”, “Happy Spring”, “Nguyen Van Troi”, “Youth Volunteers”; screenprints “Devoted to the Frontline”; propaganda paintings “Protecting the People’s Government”, “Discipline is the Strength of Our Army”… His most famous painting is “Stop” (oil painting) about a woman in Long An who bravely stopped enemy vehicles from raiding a rice field that was about to ripen.
