Art exhibition "50 years of unification - Building and developing Ho Chi Minh City"

NDO - From April 9 to May 2, the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association organized the art exhibition "50 years of reunification - Building and developing Ho Chi Minh City" at the City Fine Arts Museum. The exhibition is part of a series of events of the City Fine Arts Association to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

It is known that after 5 creative field trips taking place in September and October 2024, members of the City Fine Arts Association and artists outside the association sent over 300 works to participate in the exhibition. Through two rounds of selection, the Art Council selected 144 works by 144 authors to be displayed in the exhibition.

According to sculptor Nguyen Xuan Tien, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, this exhibition is an extremely meaningful activity in which the association is coordinated and supported by the City Fine Arts Museum to promote the works of painters and sculptors to spread the love of art through creations about the city's development over the past 50 years.

The works on display highlight the image of people and city life today with the development of science and technology; innovation; besides, the beauty of a developed urban area, the traffic infrastructure is built to promote socio-economic development, and also reflects the cultural beauty in working life...

The achievements in life and society with the constant development are expressed in works that have left an impression and touched the emotions of the artistic creator by honestly expressing to viewers the journey from April 30, 1975 to April 30, 2025.

Through the exhibition works, the artists not only wish to send to all colleagues and art lovers the quality of their creations but also their feelings to the city on the 50th anniversary of reunification with loving wishes for the city of today and tomorrow to always progress and innovate.

However, according to artist Nguyen Trung Tin, Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and Chairman of the Art Council, the number of works displayed in the exhibition is not as much as expected by the Art Council; there are not many new materials, artistic methods, and forms; the exhibition does not have many young artists participating...

On this occasion, the City Fine Arts Association awarded 12 prizes to the best works. Specifically, the first prize was awarded to the work Steel Land (Welded Iron) by artist Tran Viet Ha; the second prize went to the work Celebrating the Military Management Committee's Launch in Ho Chi Minh City (lacquer) by artist Bui Quang Anh; two third prizes went to the work Happiness (lacquer) by artist Dinh Van Son and the work New Urban (iron, wood) by artist Nguyen Hoai Huyen Vu. In addition, the City Fine Arts Association also awarded 8 Encouragement prizes.
