On September 16, the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions informed about the event to promote and propagate the Vietnamese lacquer brand and exhibition of lacquer paintings and products in France.
Accordingly, the exhibition opened on the evening of September 14, displaying 40 works by prominent painters and artists who are working, researching, and creating Vietnamese lacquer.

Among them are many typical works such as "Harvest Day" (painter Thanh Chuong), "Village Affairs" (painter Phan Cam Thuong), "Drying Nets" (painter Le Van Hai), "Hometown" (painter Nguyen Truong Linh), "Men and Women" (painter Doan Thi Thu Huong); sculptures "The Chicken Laying Golden Eggs", "Horse" (artist Nguyen Tan Phat)...
The paintings and statues in the exhibition demonstrate special and unique aesthetic values with magical beauty hidden deep under the luxurious, splendid, yet very gentle and delicate layers of Vietnamese lacquer art.
According to Mr. Ma The Anh, Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions, Vietnam's traditional lacquer craft was formed and developed from the 15th to 16th centuries.
The technique of mixing paint is completely manual, the guilds of craftsmen and artisans in the past created color materials with unique and attractive properties such as: then paint, cockroach paint as adhesive, combined with vermilion, silver foil, gold foil, mother-of-pearl, to create fine art products such as horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, altar tables, altar thrones, Buddha statues, palanquins, etc.
When the Indochina College of Fine Arts was established, many generations of lecturers and students of the school researched and discovered other colored materials from eggshells, snail shells, bamboo ribs... and especially used grinding techniques to create unique lacquer art.
Generations of artists have researched, learned and directly practiced materials, colors, techniques and methods of expression. Many unique lacquer works and products of high artistic value have been preserved to this day.
With the desire to not only promote the Vietnam - France strategic partnership, the exhibition also aims to develop Vietnam's cultural industry and build the national brand of the cultural industry in general and the fine arts sector in particular.
The event promotes and propagates the Vietnamese lacquer brand, contributing to expanding the cultural, artistic and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and France. The exhibition of paintings and lacquer products introduces the national culture of fine arts and the country and people of Vietnam in general as well as the traditional lacquer craft and modern Vietnamese lacquer painting in particular, thereby continuing to approach and promote Vietnamese fine arts.
The exhibition runs until September 20 at the Vietnam Cultural Center in France - 19 rue Albert 75013 Paris.
Activities during the promotion, propaganda and exhibition period are regularly updated on the website http//www.ape.gov.vn and on the media of the agencies, units and co-organizers.
