Detected transporting 220 pigs suspected of having African swine fever in Gia Lai

On August 7, Market Management Team No. 4 - Gia Lai Province Market Management Department said that the unit had just coordinated with An Nhon Ward Police, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Region III and other functional forces to conduct a surprise inspection of a truck transporting a large number of pigs suspected of being infected with a dangerous disease.

Accordingly, at Thuan Duc residential group, An Nhon ward, the authorities searched a truck with license plate 50H-208.56 and discovered 220 pigs (equivalent to about 4.2 tons).

Some individuals showed signs of infectious diseases such as bleeding on the skin of the abdomen and ears, and high fever above 41 degrees Celsius. Rapid test results showed that blood samples were positive for African swine fever virus.

At the time of inspection, the driver and owner of the shipment, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, could not present documents proving the legal origin of the pigs.

In addition, Ms. Hanh also did not have a business registration certificate in case registration is required according to regulations.

Market Management Team No. 4 has temporarily detained all of the above pigs and carried out destruction measures according to the law to prevent the risk of disease spreading.

At the same time, record the handling of administrative violations related to the trading of unqualified animals. The authorities are continuing to clarify the case to strictly handle it according to the law./.
