Dismantling a transnational crime ring, freezing more than 2,000 billion VND

On November 20, General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, sent a letter of commendation to the Hanoi City Police for their achievements in fighting and destroying a transnational crime ring that used high technology to defraud and appropriate people's assets, and freezing assets worth more than VND2,000 billion.

Recently, Hanoi City Police have presided over and coordinated with the Criminal Police Department, the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Ho Chi Minh City Police to fight and destroy a transnational crime ring that uses high technology to defraud and appropriate people's assets by calling for investment on illegal foreign exchange, securities and stock exchanges.

The police have prosecuted 18 defendants, detained 280 computers, 20 cars, and confiscated and frozen assets worth more than 2,000 billion VND.

"This is an outstanding achievement, demonstrating the determination, high sense of responsibility and intelligence and sharpness of the Hanoi City Police in implementing the direction of the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security on the fight against organized crime, transnational crime and high-tech crime.

The results of the special project reflect the active and effective coordination between the local police and the Ministry's professional units; contributing to deterring and preventing crimes, stabilizing security and order, and strengthening people's trust in the People's Police force," the letter of commendation stated.

On behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Senior General Luong Tam Quang commended the achievements of the officers and soldiers. The Minister of Public Security requested the Hanoi Police to coordinate with relevant units and localities to urgently investigate, expand the case, consolidate documents and evidence to propose prosecution of the subjects according to regulations.
