On July 13, North Korea announced that it had test-launched a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) the previous day, the Hwasong-18.
Leader Kim Jong-un has vowed to take military action until the US abandons its hostile policy towards Pyongyang.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), under the direction of leader Kim Jong-un, North Korea launched this ICBM to confirm the capability and reliability of the new strategic weapons system.
North Korea said the missile flew 1,001km in 4,491 seconds and reached an altitude of 6,648km before plunging into the sea off its east coast.
According to KCNA, leader Kim Jong-un reaffirmed that a series of more powerful military strikes will be launched until the US and its allies admit defeat to their futile hostile policy toward Pyongyang and abandon their policies.
Earlier, the South Korean military said that on July 12, North Korea launched a long-range ballistic missile from the capital Pyongyang into the East Sea of the country.
The last time North Korea launched a missile was on June 15, which came after North Korea failed to launch the Malligyong-1 military reconnaissance satellite in late May./.
