As a 9th grader preparing for the 10th grade entrance exam, Nguyen Thao Vy - a student at Tam Vu Town Secondary School, Chau Thanh District , Long An Province, expressed: "In addition to reviewing at school, I also try to study twice as hard. The closer the exam gets, the more worried I am because I want to pass the entrance exam to a specialized school. This pressure often causes me to lose sleep."

Not only Thao Vy, many other students also fall into a state of stress and psychological imbalance during the "final" stage of exam season and expectations from their families.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (Ward 3, Tan An City) - a parent whose child is in grade 12, shared: "I know my child is trying very hard, but sometimes I still remind him because I'm afraid he will neglect his studies. Seeing my child sometimes upset and irritable, I realized that I might be putting more pressure on him ."

Family is a strong spiritual support to help children overcome exam pressure.

According to school psychologists, many parents think that the more their children study, the easier it is to succeed, but that is only true when children are truly interested and have the right direction. If children study in a state of anxiety and pressure, not only will their effectiveness decrease, but they will also risk leading to psychological disorders such as insomnia, depression, and anxiety disorders .

Therefore, the most important thing at this stage is that parents need to become companions instead of “supervisors”. Parents should listen, understand their children’s true desires and abilities instead of imposing goals beyond their abilities. A sincere word of encouragement, a timely hug will be more valuable than criticism and comparison.

Sharing his experience from reality, Mr. Tran Van Hung (Tam Vu town, Chau Thanh district) whose son is studying for the high school graduation exam , said: “My family divides my son’s study time into time slots, along with time for rest and sports. On weekends, the whole family often goes for a walk in the park or has a light meal so that my son can relax. I don’t put too much emphasis on achievements, I just hope my son is healthy and maintains the best spirit when entering the exam.”

Le Hoang Minh - a student at Hung Vuong High School (Ward 5, Tan An City), shared: "At first, I felt a lot of pressure because my parents expected me to pass the entrance exam to medical school. But when I spoke frankly and expressed my desire to study Information Technology, my parents agreed and encouraged me to pursue my dream. Now I feel more comfortable and can concentrate on studying more effectively."

From the practical experience of school counseling, Principal of Rach Kien High School (Long Hoa Commune, Can Duoc District) - Ha Thi Minh Hien said: "The school focuses on organizing psychological counseling and career guidance sessions for final year students . What we emphasize is that students need to understand themselves, set realistic goals, and know how to arrange their study time scientifically as well as how to take care of their health."

Exam pressure is inevitable in the learning journey. However, with the right support from family, teachers and society, students can completely overcome it firmly. Exams are an important milestone but not the only thing that determines their future. What students need most right now is not only knowledge but also sympathy, encouragement and trust from their loved ones./.
