Facundo Garcés (born 1999) is a naturalized player, the latest rookie of the Malaysian team in this training session.
Facundo Garcés was born in Argentina and came through the Colo youth system. He played 116 games and scored three goals for the Colo first team, including eight appearances in the Copa Libertadores before leaving.
In January 2025, Facundo joined Deportivo Alavés on a free transfer, where he played 10 matches for Alaves in La Liga, with 7 starts in the official lineup.
Facundo is valued at 1.2 million euros, is 1.88m tall, is good at aerial combat, reads situations well and has the ability to launch impressive attacks. He is an addition to help make Malaysia's defense more solid.
In addition to Facundo, the Malaysian team also has three other naturalized players, Endrick, Paulo Josue (Brazil) and Romel Morales (Colombia); eight Malaysian players, including Matthew Davies (Australian), La'Vere Corbin-Ong (Barbados), Quentin Cheng (China), Daniel Ting, Stuart Wilkin, Hong Wan (England), Dion Cools (Belgium), Fergus Tierney (Scotland) and Nooa Laine (Finland).
Fergus Tierney was surprisingly removed from the squad by coach Peter Cklamovski after the friendly match with Cape Verde (1-1 draw). This was quite a surprise because Fergus Tierney played quite well at the AFF Cup 2024.
However, without Tierney, coach Peter Cklamovski still has three quality naturalized strikers: Rodrigo Holgado, Romel Morales, and Paulo Josué.
The match between Vietnam and Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup will take place on June 10 at Bukit Jalil Stadium.
