On the afternoon of June 4, the Vietnamese team defeated the U22 Vietnam team 2-1 in a practice match in Hanoi to prepare for the match against host Malaysia in the second match of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup taking place on June 10.

Coach Kim Sang Sik conducted some personnel tests in this internal practice match to find the optimal lineup for the Vietnamese team.

Notably, the new French-Vietnamese player Cao Penant Quang Vinh was assigned by the Korean coach to start in the left-back position and showed his ability to integrate well.

The match lasted for 3 periods, each lasting 30 minutes. The U22 team took the lead thanks to midfielder Le Van Thuan. However, in the second half, the winger duo Nguyen Hai Long and Chau Ngoc Quang scored to help the Vietnamese team come back to win 2-1.

With the attack line continuing to be "silent" like during the FIFA Days last March, the Vietnamese team has reason to worry when facing the host Malaysia, who has many differences thanks to a series of naturalized players. Especially in the center-back position.

However, coach Kim Sang Sik seemed quite satisfied with the team's spirit and training attitude. He said: "We will continue to improve our playing style and prepare best for the upcoming match with Malaysia."

Confident about the upcoming away match, coach Kim Sang Sik also said that the Vietnamese team must carefully study Malaysia to be able to achieve good results.

"Malaysia has about 8-10 new naturalized players compared to the last tournament, which makes it difficult to analyze tactics. We will continue to monitor and analyze to have the best preparation," he said.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will have their last training session in Hanoi tomorrow (June 5) before leaving for Malaysia on the morning of June 6. Coach Kim Sang Sik said the goal of the Vietnamese team is to win.

He said: "Although the qualifying round takes place in a home-and-away format, we do not want to drop any points and aim to win all 3 points in the next match. In general, victory is always the highest goal of the Vietnamese team."
