Head of the Central Propaganda Department visits and extends New Year greetings to the Criminal Police force of Ho Chi Minh City Police.

On the afternoon of February 3rd, a delegation from the Central Propaganda Department, led by Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and Head of the Central Propaganda Department, visited and extended New Year greetings to the officers and soldiers of the Criminal Police Department (PC02) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police.

Accompanying the delegation were comrades: Le Hai Binh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Nguyen Phu Truong, Chief of the Office of the Central Propaganda Department; Nguyen Huy Ngoc, Deputy Director in charge of the Southern Regional Office of the Central Propaganda Department; Nguyen Huy Cuong, Deputy Director assisting the Standing Committee of the Central Propaganda Department; and Nguyen Cong Dan, Deputy Director of the Southern Regional Office of the Central Propaganda Department.

Welcoming the delegation were Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department; and Major General Mai Hoang, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department.

Here, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hung, Head of PC02 Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, stated that in 2023, with the attention and guidance of the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department directly supervised all aspects of work; PC02 Department also excellently completed key work targets and basically controlled the crime situation in the city.

Last year, the PC02 Department directly investigated more than 600 cases, arresting nearly 1,000 suspects involved in robbery and theft; investigated and handled 219 cases and 8 loan shark gangs; and 438 individuals for usurious lending and extortion. Together with the Traffic Police Department, they established 3 special cases to combat bribery brokering, giving bribes, and receiving bribes at vehicle inspection centers. To date, 251 defendants have been prosecuted for offenses such as forgery in official duties and giving/receiving bribes.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged, commended, and congratulated the achievements of the Ho Chi Minh City Police's Criminal Investigation Department (PC02) in 2023. The Ho Chi Minh City Police's criminal investigation force has done a good job in preventing and combating various types of crime; ensuring political security and social order, and making a positive contribution to socio-economic development in Ho Chi Minh City. He also expressed confidence that in the future, the criminal investigation force and all officers and soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, with their courage, loyalty, professional expertise, and determination, will continue to leverage their strengths to ensure political security and social order, preventing the occurrence of hotspots.

The Head of the Central Propaganda Department shared that in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will have many activities to commemorate major holidays, especially leading up to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia noted that the Criminal Police force of Ho Chi Minh City Police needs to proactively ensure security and order in the area so that events can take place safely; and residents and foreign tourists can feel secure visiting and enjoying entertainment.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia extended his best wishes to the Criminal Police force of Ho Chi Minh City Police and all officers and soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh City Police force for a healthy and happy new year; and for continued efforts to excellently fulfill their duties to be worthy of the trust and affection of the Party, State, people, and the People's Police force.

Furthermore, he urged them to continue building upon the achievements and experiences gained to successfully complete assigned tasks, achieve new victories, and contribute to maintaining peace and security for the people of the city in particular, and the development and peace of the country in general. He also expressed his hope that the Central Propaganda Department and the Ho Chi Minh City police force would continue to cooperate on more programs to strongly promote exemplary police officers to the younger generation and spread the image of the people's police officer in the task of protecting the Fatherland.

Earlier, the delegation offered incense and flowers in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Room within the premises of the PC02 Department and the Ho Chi Minh City Police.
