In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution taking place strongly, digital technology has become a key driving force to promote economic growth, reshape business models and open up unprecedented development opportunities for countries, Thanh Dong University has chaired the International Scientific Conference "Economic and Business Development in the Digital Age" (ICEBDDE 2025), with the accompaniment of Lincoln University (New Zealand), University of Economics - University of Danang and Can Tho University.

Overview of the workshop

The organization of this event demonstrates the proactive spirit of Thanh Dong University in participating in the process of science and technology development, and affirms the desire to contribute to building an increasingly strong, professional and integrated Vietnamese scientific community. The International Scientific Conference on Economic and Business Development in the Digital Age is organized with the goal of creating a prestigious academic forum, connecting scientists, experts, lecturers, students, managers and the business community at home and abroad to share knowledge, experience and the latest research results on digital transformation in the field of economics and business.

The event took place over 2 days, November 11-12, 2025. Attending the International Scientific Conference were Dr. Le Luong Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hai Phong City, representatives of the leaders of the Hai Phong City Business Association; the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Hai Phong City, and representatives of universities in the city, scholars and researchers from New Zealand, China, Nepal, Japan... The conference gathered a large number of scientists, experts, management agencies, research institutes and domestic and foreign enterprises, demonstrating the strategic vision and international integration capacity of Thanh Dong University in the field of scientific and technological research and development.

The workshop provided a comprehensive view of Digital Transformation in Business, E-commerce and Digital Markets, Fintech and Digital Finance, Cyber ​​Security and Data Privacy, Economic Impact of Digitalization, Digital Marketing and Consumer Behavior, Sustainable Development and Green Innovation in the Digital Environment, Policies and Regulations in the Digital Economy, Global Business and Trade in the Digital Age.

At the event, the lively, frank and open professional discussion between experts, lecturers and students demonstrated the high practicality of the conference topic, while also suggesting many new research and application directions in research and teaching.

Notably, after a serious and objective scientific review process, the Conference published a scientific Proceedings with the international standard code ISBN 978-632-607-386-7, gathering 77 typical research works selected by the Scientific Council, reflecting the outstanding academic quality and extensive practical application value of the Conference.

In the plenary session on November 11, 2025, many scientific reports provided in-depth insights into digital transformation, macroeconomics, finance, trade and sustainable agriculture . Regarding digital transformation and economic governance, Dr. Le Dang Doanh (Thanh Dong University) with his article "Vietnam's Digital Transformation" emphasized the urgency of implementing the national digital transformation strategy, towards e-Government and digital society, in which technology is the key driving force of sustainable development. Prof. Dr. Gan Eng Chye (Lincoln University, New Zealand) in his article "Shaping the Future: Digitalization and the Transformation of Global Business" pointed out the strong impact of digitalization on global business models, analyzed typical cases such as Alibaba, Pinduoduo and MoMo, and warned of risks to cybersecurity and sustainability. Dr. Nguyen Phuong Bac (Thanh Dong University) in the article “Development of Digital Technology Zones within the Digital Export and Business Ecosystem in the Red River Delta Region” continues to affirm the central role of AI and real-time data in policy making, recommending accelerating legal reform on data and digital tax. Dr. Amogh Ghimire (Xiamen University, China) with the study “Narrowing the Digital Divide through Regional Cooperation: A Quasi-Experimental Analysis of ASEAN Countries” uses the PSM – DID model, demonstrating that regional policy cooperation helps narrow the digital divide and promote innovation in ASEAN.

Regarding finance, trade and tourism, Dr. Linh Ho (Lincoln University, New Zealand) analyzed the impact of tariff risks on technology and energy stock markets through the article "Trade Uncertainty: Impacts of Trump Tariff Risk on Technology and Energy Stock Markets", showing that in unstable conditions, trade risks can be both a challenge and an opportunity for financial hedging. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trong (National Economics University) with the article "Research on Tourism Management Activities at World Heritage Site - The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long" clarified the relationship between heritage conservation and sustainable tourism development, proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of heritage management associated with cultural values.

Regarding sustainable agricultural development, MSc. Tran Thi Anh Nguyet (Feng Chia University, Taiwan) in the article "Promoting Sustainable Agricultural Development in Thai Nguyen Province" assessed the current status of agricultural production in Thai Nguyen in the period 2020 - 2024. The results showed that the locality has made progress in productivity, but it is necessary to increase the application of high technology, develop value chains and adapt to climate change to achieve sustainable development.

The ICEBDDE 2025 event is not only a large-scale international scientific forum but also an important step in the integration and academic development strategy of Thanh Dong University. The successful organization of the event has contributed to enhancing the position of the University in the Vietnamese higher education network, affirming the commitment to "Connecting knowledge - Creating a digital future". In recent years, Thanh Dong University has always focused on developing scientific research towards international integration, forming strong research groups, encouraging prestigious international publications in the ISI and SCOPUS lists; at the same time, strengthening the connection between research and training and serving the community. This International Scientific Conference is a concrete demonstration of the University's continuous efforts.

Through the ICEBDDE 2025 International Scientific Conference , Thanh Dong University not only recognized valuable research results but also saw many potential international cooperation opportunities. After the Conference, the University will focus on promoting the transfer and application of research results into teaching practice, linked to the development needs of the city and businesses. The University will further expand its international cooperation network; continue to aim at building an open, integrated and creative academic environment.
