Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry aims to become an internationally prestigious research university.

At the 70th anniversary celebration of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, the school announced its goal of becoming an internationally prestigious research university by 2045. On this occasion, the school received the Second Class Labor Medal awarded by the President.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry received the Second Class Labor Medal awarded by the President on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.

On November 15, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding (November 19, 1955 - November 19, 2025).

Speaking at the ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the school's founding, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tat Toan, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, said that through the process of formation and development up to now, the school has become a multidisciplinary university training institution, a leading center of knowledge - technology - innovation in the region.

After 7 decades of development, the school has trained more than 100,000 engineers, bachelors, masters, and doctors, providing high-quality human resources for Vietnam's agriculture and economy ; at the same time, affirming its pioneering role in research and transfer of science and technology, aiming at sustainable development.

Also at the event, the school announced its new development orientation towards becoming a prestigious university in academics and sustainable development. The two spearheads of science, technology and training are two key strategies to make a breakthrough and create a distinctive mark. "The school is committed to accompanying the Government, businesses and the scientific community in realizing the Net Zero 2050 goal - not only through research, but also through action and practical solutions for a green, safe and prosperous agriculture", said the Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry.

The school promotes the fields of smart agriculture, circular economy, sustainable energy; applying AI, IoT, Big Data, blockchain and biotechnology to transform traditional agriculture. Projects such as bioenergy from waste, climate-adaptive plant/animal varieties, traceability of agricultural products, etc. demonstrate the goal of "Agriculture for a green planet".

In training, the school has strongly transformed to a digital university model with a synchronous LMS system, 70% of E-learning subjects, 100% of courses with digital learning materials; at the same time, opening new majors, international programs and promoting liberal education. The school has signed more than 150 international cooperation agreements, connecting more than 200 businesses according to the "co-creation" model between training-research-transfer-startup.

Identifying university autonomy as the foundation for innovation, the school invests heavily in infrastructure, international laboratories, high-tech agriculture, diversifying revenue sources and developing elite staff. The school aims to become an internationally prestigious research university by 2045, based on three values: Innovation - Integration - Service.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc highly appreciated the school’s efforts in training, applied research and international cooperation. He suggested that the school continue to develop high-tech industries, promote digital transformation, expand business cooperation and invest heavily in teaching staff, especially PhDs, along with streamlined and effective facilities and administration.

On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry received the Second Class Labor Medal awarded by the President. In addition, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Hung, former Acting Principal of the University, received the Second Class Labor Medal; Dr. Bui Ngoc Hung, Chairman of the University Council, received the Third Class Labor Medal.
