On the morning of November 6, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An said that he had submitted to the Provincial People's Committee a plan to recruit 1,600 teachers for the 2025-2026 school year.
According to the leader of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, the whole province is lacking more than 5,000 teachers at all levels. However, the expected recruitment target for the next school year is only 1,600 positions, much lower than the actual demand.

According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, a specific survey of each school is an important basis for developing a recruitment plan that is close to the actual situation, in order to overcome the local shortage of teachers, especially in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Muong Long Primary School (Muong Long Commune, Nghe An) was assigned 37 positions. However, at this time, the school only has 16 positions, lacking managers, accountants, clerks and teachers.
Teacher Nguyen Quang Huy, Principal of Muong Long Primary School, said the school has 15 classes and 430 students. The school is currently short of 21 staff, including a Vice Principal, 8 teachers and many other positions. The lack of teachers has caused the school to face many difficulties in teaching and learning.
Teacher shortage also occurs at Dai Son Primary School (Bach Ha commune, Nghe An).
Principal of Dai Son Primary School, Luu Van Dou, said: “Currently, the school is short of 3 teachers and has to contract 2 more teachers because 2 teachers are on maternity leave. Due to the lack of teachers, teachers in the school have to teach extra classes. The province's assignment of specific staffing quotas to each school is very appropriate, helping the recruitment work to be closer to reality.”
Not only in mountainous areas, schools in plains and urban areas also lack many teachers.
According to Decision No. 3235/QD-UBND issued in October, Nghe An province has assigned more than 43,000 public employees receiving salaries from the budget to educational public service units under the People's Committees at the commune and ward levels in 2025. The allocation is calculated based on the number of students and the actual number of employees at each educational institution.
Carrying out the tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee after switching to a two-level government model, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training is developing a plan to recruit teachers in 2025 based on the newly approved staffing quota.
Schools have been asked to review, propose recruitment needs and give comments on plans for using the remaining staff for the year.
According to the leader of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, the unit is waiting for competent authorities to review and approve additional staff. During this time, the Nghe An Department of Education and related units continue to complete the recruitment plan, ensuring that it meets both teaching and learning needs and balances the salary fund after streamlining the staff.
