The first financially independent kindergarten receives good news

This morning, October 4, at Nam Sai Gon Kindergarten, a ceremony was held to receive the certificate of recognition as a kindergarten meeting national standards level 2 andeducational quality assessment level 3.

At the ceremony, Ms. Le Thuy My Chau, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this is not only the joy of the school but also good news for the education sector and preschool education in the city.

"Over the past time, despite many changes, the staff, teachers and employees have persisted, overcome difficulties and completed their tasks. I appreciate the efforts of the teachers, management staff, teachers and employees. Now the school is spacious, modern and meets national standards. This will create conditions for teachers to take better care of and educate children," said Ms. Chau.

Ms. Le Thuy My Chau and Mr. Nguyen Tran Khanh Bao, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Education Trade Union, awarded the certificate of recognition of the school meeting national standards level 2 to the principal of Nam Sai Gon Kindergarten. This is the first and only public kindergarten to date in Ho Chi Minh City that is financially autonomous.

"Today's event is both a source of pride and responsibility, requiring the school to continue to improve the quality of education and increase the trust of parents and students in the coming time. This is a typical example. The Department of Preschool Education and the Department of Education and Training need to pay attention and share experiences with other schools to improve the quality of preschool education in the city. The school needs to continue to innovate and be more creative to ensure the safety of children, and pay attention to implementing solutions to build a happy preschool with children as the center," Ms. Chau directed.

Nam Sai Gon Kindergarten, formerly Nam Sai Gon Private School, was inaugurated and opened its first school year on September 5, 1997. In August 2002, the school was officially converted from a private school to a semi-public school with the "Nam Sai Gon Semi-Public Kindergarten - Primary School - Middle School - High School" model. In April 2006, the kindergarten block was separated into Nam Sai Gon Semi-Public Kindergarten.

Ms. Luong Thi Hong Diep, Head of Preschool Education Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (2nd from right), congratulated the school on achieving the level 3 education quality accreditation certificate.

In 2011, in Official Dispatch No. 4063/QD-UBND dated August 25, 2011, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision to convert the Nam Sai Gon Semi-Public Kindergarten into the Nam Sai Gon Kindergarten (headquartered at Tran Van Tra Street, Area A of the new urban area of ​​Nam Sai Gon, Tan Phu Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City).

In the 2021-2022 school year, Nam Sai Gon Kindergarten is a self-financed public service unit in group 2 according to Decree No. 60/2021/ND-CP of the Government .

Nam Sai Gon Kindergarten - where children are currently studying is a newly built school (construction started in 2021) located at Lot P3 Area A, Nam Thanh Pho new urban area, Tan Phu Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. Up to now, this is the first and only self-financed public kindergarten in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Le Thuy My Chau said that Nam Sai Gon Kindergarten is one of three units under the Department of Education and Training. The school is a pioneer in activities, with a team of young, enthusiastic, qualified teachers. The quality of child care creates high efficiency, receiving the trust of parents.

The school has a total usable area of ^{​​9,977.2m2} ; including 1 ground floor, 2 floors and 39 rooms, including 20 classrooms, many functional rooms, art education room, physical education room, library, smart classroom, kitchen, medical room, warehouse, laundry room... Each group and class has its own toilet, fully equipped with utensils and toys for nurturing, care and education.

Ms. Le Thi Xuan Thuong, Principal of the school, said that the school has 59 staff members, teachers and employees. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school has 393 children of nursery and kindergarten ages studying in 14 classes. Ms. Thuong said that the financial autonomy model requires the school's staff, teachers and employees to make efforts to gain the trust, satisfaction and attraction of parents.
