The high school only has 1 candidate registering for the second choice to enter grade 10.

According to data released by the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training, the entire city has 103,456 candidates registering for the 10th grade public exam in 2025, corresponding to 103,456 first choices.

The number of candidates registering for the second choice is 100,107 and only 63,376 candidates registering for the third choice.

Top schools in terms of admission scores often have few candidates registering for their second and third choices due to low chances of admission. Notably, this year Nguyen Gia Thieu High School (Long Bien District) only had 1 candidate registering for their second choice.

The number of candidates applying for the third choice to the top school in this recruitment area number 5 is 7. The total number of candidates applying for the second and third choices of the school is 8.

In the main choice, Nguyen Gia Thieu school has 1,066 candidates registered. With a quota of 675, the competition ratio to enter the school is 1/1.58.

Nguyen Gia Thieu High School has been in the top 10 schools with the highest admission scores in Hanoi for 10 consecutive years. Last year, the school scored 41.75 points, ranking 8th.

Besides Nguyen Gia Thieu school, there are 2 other high schools that accept less than 10 second choices: Me Linh and Tung Thien.

Meanwhile, Le Quy Don (Ha Dong), Phan Dinh Phung (Ba Dinh), Viet Duc (Hoan Kiem) and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai (Nam Tu Liem) schools received less than 10 third-place wishes.

This year, Yen Hoa High School continues to lead in the competition ratio with 1/2.44. The remaining names in the Top 10 with the highest competition ratio in the city are: Le Quy Don (Ha Dong), Kim Lien, Dong Da, Hoai Duc C, Cau Giay, Ngo Thi Nham, Phan Dinh Phung, Khuong Ha and Nhan Chinh.

Meanwhile, the group of schools with the lowest competition ratios are mostly located in suburban districts. There are 14 schools with competition ratios below 1, the lowest being Tho Xuan High School with only 348 applications for the first choice while the quota is 540.

The remaining schools include: Minh Quang, Tu Lap, Bac Luong Son, Xuan Khanh, Bat Bat, Ung Hoa B, Luu Hoang, Dong My, Ung Hoa A, Thuong Cat, Nguyen Trai (Thuong Tin), Phuc Loi and Thuong Cat.

This year, Hanoi’s 10th grade public entrance exam will take place over four days. Candidates will complete the registration process on June 6, take the general exam on June 7-8, and take the specialized exam on June 9.
