Enhance the experience for tourists when coming to Thanh Hoa

One of the new directions in developing tourism products in Thanh Hoa province is to avoid duplication leading to monotony. Since tourism reopened after the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2022), destinations and tourism service businesses in the province have paid special attention to developing diverse experiential activities, contributing to extending the length of stay and increasing the spending capacity of tourists.

First of all, it is necessary to mention the sea tourism product - a product that has created a prominent brand of Thanh Hoa in the Northern and North Central regions. Along with the sea tourism opening events that have been organized, this summer at the beach tourist areas of Sam Son (Sam Son City), Hai Tien (Hoang Hoa), Hai Hoa (Nghi Son Town), it is expected that many cultural, sports and tourism events will take place such as: National Beach Volleyball Championship; National Beach Sepak Takraw Championship 2025; Market to display, introduce and promote OCOP products and Thanh cuisine; Mass Arts Festival 2025; Water music performance at the Sea Square...

Head of the Travel Association (Provincial Tourism Association) Vu Van Binh, said: “Thanh Hoa beach tourism areas have so far affirmed their attraction, first of all because of the synchronous infrastructure and diverse experiential activities. In particular, the experience that is prioritized by group guests is beach team building. In addition, travel businesses also focus on integrating sightseeing and resort programs with cultural, sports and tourism events to enhance the experience for visitors. This summer, experiences such as kayaking, ziplining, Nghi Son - Me Island tour (Nghi Son town); tour to Ne Island, paragliding, weekend street festivals at Flamingo Ibiza Hai Tien (Hoang Hoa); beach team building, Sun World Water Park (Sam Son city) ... will continue to be activities that are promoted in tours”.

Along with sea tourism, the province's cultural tourism products have recently received many positive responses from tourists. In particular, the World Cultural Heritage of Ho Dynasty Citadel (Vinh Loc) is a typical destination with unique cultural experiences, in a creative, close and attractive direction. Not only visiting the ancient citadel walls, or checking in a few photo angles, now visitors here can "play the role" of an archaeologist, an artist or a tour guide... In particular, Ho Dynasty Citadel also brings visitors authentic and close-up experiences of the agricultural culture of the Tay Do region.

Ms. Vu Thi Lanh, tour guide of the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage Conservation Center, said: “Visitors coming here are very interested in the heritage exploration activities associated with the surrounding area. When having direct contact with the local people, visiting the Lady Binh Khuong Church or the ancient house of Mr. Pham Ngoc Tung... it has brought visitors new approaches to the destination. Organizing a variety of outdoor exhibition spaces, along with many useful experiential activities not only helps increase the value of the destination, but also helps visitors better understand the value of the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage in particular, and the land and people of Thanh Hoa in general.”

Only about 13km from the Ho Dynasty Citadel Cultural Heritage, Yen Trung Tourist Village (Yen Dinh) is a destination with many experiences typical of the Northern countryside. The highlight of the village picture here is the ancient houses "Where time stays", along with many experiential activities such as: fishing, draining ponds, grilling fish with straw, watching outdoor movies... and folk games such as jumping rope, mandarin squares... In addition, to meet the needs of tourists, many more games have been developed here such as: duck pedaling, water polo, kayaking, monkey bridge... Ms. Le Thi Thuy (Hanoi) said: "Yen Trung Tourist Village has brought us many memorable experiences of a peaceful countryside. In particular, children can participate in outdoor activities in a green, safe space and many healthy, useful games. For us, this place is truly a "healing" destination, helping each member to be recharged with positive energy".

In fact, increasing experiences is not only a tourism trend but also a solution for each destination to retain tourists and affirm its value. Because when tourists come to Thanh Hoa, they all bring back beautiful memories, experiences that are connected to the culture and people of the destination, the image of Thanh Hoa as a "Safe, friendly, attractive destination" will be increasingly spread.
