According to information from the White House, Etihad has agreed to buy 28 aircraft manufactured by Boeing, including the 787 and 777X lines, equipped with engines supplied by GE.
The US government assessed that this deal not only strengthens the bilateral commercial aviation relationship but also promotes production and exports of the world's largest economy .
Etihad currently has a fleet of around 100 aircraft. Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves said the airline plans to add 20-22 new aircraft this year, aiming to expand to more than 170 aircraft by 2030 to support Abu Dhabi's economic diversification strategy.
Among the aircraft added this year, Etihad will put into service 10 Airbus A321LRs from August, along with six Airbus A350s and four Boeing 787s.
Etihad, owned by ADQ, Abu Dhabi's $225 billion investment fund, has been undergoing a multi-year restructuring process. Under Mr Neves' leadership, the airline has gradually expanded its operations and fleet.
Earlier, during his visit to Qatar on May 14, President Trump also witnessed Boeing sign its largest-ever wide-body aircraft contract with Qatar Airways. The contract worth 96 billion USD includes 160 aircraft, along with 50 other optional aircraft./.
